LTE in US 10x more than Swedes...

Um, have you seen how much the Swedish pay in taxes and VAT?

Yup, and as a result, they have better infrastructure, healthcare, education and overall quality of life. Whereas if we paid more federal taxes, they would just go to feed the war machine.

Not a good idea in my opinion. All that will do is take away free WiFi and make it part of the cellphone network and at the same high prices.

Doubtful that's the motivation.

But the real threat is the potential loss of anonymity. While most people don't realize they're already uniquely identifiable by various digital fingerprints, with Sim-authenticated Wifi, the privacy door will be closed for good.
