Verizon Heavy Users Paying More

Unless Verizon is losing money on FIOS, can we assume today's prices have "heavy users" factored into each plan's cost? If so, a future Internet would see $5/month plans, $200/month plans and everything in between.

Anyone willing to bet a paycheck that will never happen?

Re: Verizon Heavy Users Paying More

Irony: penalties for those that actually buy the 150Mbps and 300Mbps tiers.

Wasn't there something stated that 95% of the traffic is 5% of the users? So make THEM pay more. Its not like they don't know who to throttle/gouge.

And since 80% (please verify) of the traffic is spam...

Wait, won't this hurt the future of gaming? Direct downloads currently number 1-2GB per title(xbox) and are growing. A single purchased game can have up to 5GB of DLC over the life of the game. Multiply that per title. Along with any household computers needing updates (daily, weekly, monthy)... once can assume a 100GB cap in a week .
(streaming, multi-user household)...

Re: Verizon Heavy Users Paying More

Interesting thing about UBB. Once UBB is established, then unwanted traffic equals monetary damage which means it's open and shut in court.

Think about it. OS full of bugs and security holes, needs updates, patching, service packs? Well since that causes you losses, you have grounds for a lawsuit.

Unwanted spam and advertising when you surf? Again, damages. Time to sue.

DDOS, virus attacks? Yep you guessed it, lawsuit!

Defective software, buggy drivers and apps, anything you download you can't use as intended? YEP.... Lawsuit time!

No, I can't afford a sure loss like that. Wasting it on lottery tickets would have a better chance of a winning outcome!

Verzion...

All this talk about heavy users paying more, but nothing about light users paying less.

Pay based on usage OR high monthy fee...

Seems they want both.

Verizon lowering prices?! When pigs fly and drop snowballs over hell! The cheapest 15mbit FIOS plan is what, $74.99?

It's all about more ways to charge people, not manage traffic or "fairness."
