Proposition J(free WiFi) - Vote NO

The conceit for free universal Wi-Fi is that it will enable young people to log on to learn more about famine in Africa or health tips. Yeah, right. Sorry, but it would be more likely to present a huge windfall for MySpace, not to mention Internet porn. I think people can pay for those pursuits.

The Special City does not need free Wi-Fi. The free market works. Residents can purchase Wi-Fi access from a number of companies. Laptop owners can access free Wi-Fi if they buy a cup of coffee at many coffee shops. Or they can go to the San Francisco Main Library for free Wi-Fi - as well as the use of a computer; 20 library branches also offer a free ride on the Internet.
Free WiFi in San Francisco is just one more wet dream by SF's commie mayor. Vote NO.

Re: Proposition J(free WiFi) - Vote NO

Why should I care what happens in San Francisco? If they want more net access, letem have it.
They need wireless just to get rid of all the ugly cables and lines that make sf an eyesore.

The contract they had with earrthlink was horrible, 16 year contract is rediculous when technology is obsolete ever 6 mo to a year.

A commie? Wtf is this 1975 coldwar?

I'm pretty sure wireless power delivery isn't in the scope of this project, nor is forcing every telco and cableco to switch to wireless, so it's not going to make a difference.

And also, no not the 70's coldwar, it's McCarthyism all over again, so watch your back.

No, vote for the one with the best photoshop pics. What he is talking about is not net neutrality.
If there were real net neutrality I would be able to use Comcast cable lines to get UVERSE, Or ATT lines to get Comcast.

The real question is, do we want someone for president who makes promises they can't possibly keep.

With all the money sloshing from the big telco companies and into the beltway, congress would never pass a bill for him to sign.

Just more empty promises, from another empty head. No different than the 8 or so other jokers on both sides that want the job.

2007 Municipal Wireless State of the Market Report ?

A link to a pre-order for a report passes for news now-a-days? At least tell me it was a paid plug by Esme and not just a slow news day.

Yes, Esme is just flogging the dead horse of municipal wireless. Have to make that money while there are still people who will pay for a prognosis for a patient that has already died.
