U-Verse Voice Hits Ohio U-Verse triple play hits Reno Tipped by boogi man
AT&T continues to slowly expand their U-Verse VoIP offering, this morning announcing they've launched the VDSL-based product in portions of both Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio. As previously mentioned, the service is pricier than indie VoIP, but about on par with VoIP service from many of the cable providers. The company offers two flavors: unlimited VoIP for $40 monthly, or 1000 minutes of talk time for $30. Additional lines are $20, and you must bundle U-Verse TV. AT&T also this morning announced the launch of U-Verse in portions of the Reno, Nevada market.

Why do they make this so difficult ? -- Canada = Hollywood North

The problem is they have a personal grudge against cable company's. When they see a cable company taking away their bread and butter land lines they want to go for cables bread and butter television service.
I guess it all breaks down to money. Apparently to AT&T the demand is an alternative to cable or Satellite tv, even if the market is saturated with video providers. U verse is AT&Ts lame attempt to compete with cable television, its not about bringing broadband to new people or expanding speeds, its about video.

There was a post in an earlier thread that claimed there were union problems between U-Verse installers and DSL installers that prevented TV-free U-Verse from being sold, though I don't know how accurate that really is.

AT&T isn't publically selling TV-free Uverse unless its a 'business' (BBR has an article) and charges more. I've been able to have AT&T over the phone sell me TV free Uverse, but they also told me that I could keep my existing DSL running at the same time. -- Canada = Hollywood North

Rick is right about AT&T they really need to deploy fiber to the home in order to compete. I guess the thought of the cost makes AT&Ts investors cringe.

That pretty much covers my post, don't think I put any insults in there. You, however, just insulted me with the 'with out class' remark.
