Verizon, AMC Strike Retrans Deal New Deal 'in Our Customers' Best Interests' Says Verizon Verizon and AMC Networks have struck a new retransmission fee agreement for FiOS TV, avoiding any potential service blackouts. While networks like AMC have been trying to scare customers into calling their provider to avoid blackouts during fee negotiations, AMC recently took things one step further and started trying to scare FiOS customers before negotiations really even began. "AMC Networks has agreed to an agreement with Verizon that is both reasonable and in our FiOS TV customers' best interests," said Verizon in a statement. "This means that there is no risk of losing any AMC Networks channels. Weve worked hard on behalf of our FiOS TV customers to reach an agreement with AMC. Well continue to fight for our customers to ensure they continue receiving all of the great programming they've come to expect." While FiOS customers won't lose channels, they have seen a steady stream of rate hikes from Verizon for both TV and broadband services over the last two years.

An early deal with AMC will result in a rate hike for sure. Verizon Fios is getting more expensive then other cable companies.

If I could get my relatives (who live in the same house) to switch to Verizon, we could split the bill, and I could dump my account altogether. Right now they have Cablevision, and their Internet service is poor, at least to this residence. -- "Suddenly everything is fainting, falling from a broken ladder's rung. There's a jolt exhilarating from the phone I'm holding... I hear the words of what I'll become, how eager the hands that reach for love." - Blind Melon - New Life

I sometimes wonder if a sharp uptick in piracy is due in the future. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports

Even no deal results in rate hikes today Ahh but your provider will tell you they are "increasing value" or some other form of adspeak. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports
