No love for Single Line Plans...» www.verizonwireless.com/ ··· ans.htmlOuch. They even had the nerve to increase pricing by $15 on the 2 GB plan after dropping it to $60 in August.

Re: No love for Single Line Plans...It is still $60 if you are doing the EDGE plan. The $75 pricing is for subsidized lines.

Only t-mobile seems to give a damn about people who don't need multiple lines.
Verizon, how about you offer mifi/jetpack users 10GB for $60 total including device connect fee? 4 years ago your base plan was 5GB for $60. Two years ago is was 5GB for $50. Now its 4GB for $50. Perhaps by mid century you will offer, at a reasonable price, a usage allotment comparable to the average wireline use in 2010, since you are so committed to dumping your wireline customers and insist wireless is a legitimate substitute.

Best ever pricing?I love how Verizon's press release breathlessly touts "best ever" data pricing. Wasn't unlimited data a better deal than any sort of metered plan?

Re: Best ever pricing?I still have a grandfathered unlimited line, and my bride has a dumb phone. Just two lines - the kids are on their own.
Every time I look at vzw's current plans, I find that exactly zero of them would save us money over our current plan :-(
Granted things will change when my bride moves to a smart phone, but at least she wont use much data - she doesn't want to do mail/web on her phone.

No love for the high rollersConsidering I have 7 lines with them (a mix of smartphones, dumbphones, jetpack, iPad, and a connected device) AND an over $300 a month cell phone bill with the edge payments, they should give me more data.
But the coverage is great.
|
| |
Re: No love for the high rollersThat sums it up. It's a matter of *great* coverage vs. *good enough* coverage. For me, in my area, T-Mo is good enough, I save a boat load of money, and gain features.
Unfortunately, T-Mo isn't good enough for everyone.

Re: No love for the high rollersMost Americans don't want to be on EDGE so yes, it isn't good enough for everyone.

Re: No love for the high rollersEDGE will be completely gone by the end of 2015. Many areas are now on new LTE and 3g (FauxG) equipment.
The refarm is going at a very fast pace and I wont be surprised if t-mus beats its own deadline.

Yeah, I'm one of those people. If it wasn't for TMO having coverage in my area, which they have none in my immediate area and just Edge in nearby towns, I'm stuck with VZW. I'd love to pay a lot less and much more freedom with our phones, but alas the only decent service here is either VZW or ATT. Sprint, while has decent signal their service blows and very unreliable.

exactly. I can deal with "good enough" coverage for about $1200 savings every year.

I use Verizon for my phone/tablet, but TMO for my hotspot because its cheap, unlimited, and way outpeforms Verizon in most metro areas that I use it in (esp airports).
Verizon performance in major airports is abysmal at best, and even metro areas the signal isn't as strong nor responsive as before. I would grade them C at airports, and maybe B in major East Coast metros.
For fringe areas (not that much anymore), I have my tablet w/cell, but in the last 6 months the TMO hotspot is really performing and I haven't had to use the tab once.
TMO is really stepping up their game, so I think the old TMO network bashing isn't what it used to be.

But the coverage is great. 7 lines and $300 a month? WHY? Cut it back and save your money, eventually you're going to need it. I have one smartphone with same unlimited data plan I've been carrying over for eons and it's like $86 a month. Hate paying that even but need that data for streaming audio all day at work.

Re: No love for the high rollersTwo of those lines are mom and grandma's dumb phones (which they pay for).
|
| | | |
Re: No love for the high rollersDon't imagine dumb phones amount to much and leaves you with 5 devices. The end of the year it's $3600 gone. Cellular doesn't better you in anyway or have any financial return. Spend as little as possible on it and bank the money or put it into something tangible that has return.

Gotta Love Verizon & AT&T......NOTLove it when they charge you for the data plan & charge to use the phone on that data plan. I know sprint isn't the best, but for my area, it is the best, tower less then a mile away, and using Boost Mobile, $45.00 for 5gb. nothing more $$ nothing less. Love you Boost!

Re: Gotta Love Verizon & AT&T......NOTCricket Wireless is great too! I get the coverage of AT&T for half the price!

"premium" network experience??I see this pricing and see what people pay for their Verizon cell phone service and can't believe my eyes. I do realize TMO's network isn't that good outside of the major metro areas. Boy does my wallet feel sorry for you if you live in a rural area. Here in southern Cal I pay just over $100 for two lines. We have Unlimited talk/text, I have 7 GB and my wife 5 GB of data. Same thing would easily double my bill on Verizon. But why would I even consider switching? I get at coverage at least this good at work, home and anything in between

Re: "premium" network experience??Everyone has their reasons ... for me, VZW worked during the blackout and during Sandy where many others did not so that's worth the bit of a premium for me.

Just curious, were you close to one of their CO's during these events? For me, although Verizon was showing service while AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile did not, getting a call through took a few hundred tries. I think the main reason was because Verizon CO's have generators, so whatever towers were at the CO's were still up and running. However, these had to deal with onslaught of calls trying to get through, so performance was far from reliable.

Re: "premium" network experience??During the NE blackout, I was on another provider and was cursing up a storm as VZ (and Sprint iirc) customers were able to make calls.
During Sandy, I was was on VZW (in an unaffected area of Queens) and had no issues calling people in lower manhattan on VZW cell phones.

T-mobile isn't great in my area (AT&T either), I have had the best luck with Verizon. Here is my typical speed test:

brimrose paththey keep hiking the data "allowances".. ANYTHING else but bring back unlimited data plans which don't SUCK.. or cost too much.
