My 5 phones and TRUE unlimited text (sprint) is 20 bucks. One phone on my account (daugther) hit 4600+ msgs this month. THey all have nav service (free) and unlimited (not vzw's version) internet/data access. But my plan(s) work for me and my family and I'm very happy with my service just as you arehappy with your provider I'm sure. So, lets leave it at that..  | |

Chicago and Detroit for example, Sprint seems to do better then the others. I think people let themselves get so caught up in the customer service issues with sprint, they rate the network as bad.. However, funny that Virgin mobile recently got top ratings in PC Mag. .they ride only on Sprints network. But Sprint hit the bottom of the list. I've had Sprint for almost 9 years now. They offer the most bang for the buck, are not restrictive on it's network use and I've had less issues with them then my cable, wireline or natural gas provider. Good luck with your service. If you ever move, to say, Glasgow KY or even Louisville, you might want to find another provider then VZW.. JMO. | |

She was talking about all the people who were losing service and dropping calls from other carriers (mostly AT&T) in that area. On the way back, it seems Sprint was the only provider able to keep the signal up all the way home. I'm not just saying this. I think something a lot of people don't take into count is the phone. Even same brands, it can be the difference between service or no service. Now, they only spent a week there so it could have been a fluke in the network..  | |

In all fairness you are correct. It isn't just the network but the phones as well. Now when I had sprint It was maybe 10 or so years ago. The home builder I was working for decided to switch us from Nextels to Sprint. Thinking they would be better signal in our area. He was getting too many people going over their minutes with personal calls that he decided to switch back to Nextel. Now the phone I had was spotty with their service. When I later got Verizon the service was solid til I got my first color phone. It was a Motorola which is normally a good phone but it sucked. They even swapped it out a few times but it didn't help. Oh well such is life...Take care my friend. | |

| | A huge price increase in disguise There is no mention of Get It Now applications being exempt from the data charges. If they are not exempt, then you will have to pay data charges to both download and use GIN applications. For example, downloading Navigator will cost you $3.98 instead of just 2-3 minutes of data. This is just a huge price increase in disguise.

kudos:2 | If you renew, you can keep the mobile web plan. It's when you change it that you won't be able to select it again.
I just did this today (picked up a new phone and renewed). I opted for the $1.99 option as I hardly ever (once a year?) use Mobile Web. For me this is a less expensive option.

2 edits | Family PLan Changes? I am on the Americas Choice Family Plan (the 'old' plan) and have 5 phones. Looking at their site now it appears they only support up to 4 phones on the family plan.
Update: I was wrong. They still allow up to 5 on the plan. Their fine print says:
"Minimum of two lines required. Maximum of five lines." Their selection on the web page when ordering only goes up to 4 though. | |

| |  Rate Change information per Verizon CSR
1) America's Choice Subscribers are grandfathered and will not be forced to change to the new "National Plan". America's Choice Mobile Web 2 rate structure is no longer available to new subscribers.
2) Existing Subscribers on contract or on a month to month plan can change to the new National Plan ($1.99 per MB on Mobil Web 2 usage) without extending or signing a new contract. If you change to the National Plan you cannot change back to the old plan. According to the CSR these rates apply to data usage through Mobil Web 2 only and not other service such as text messaging.
3) For Family Plan Subscribers data is accrued per handset not per plan. If I use 0.2Mb and my wife uses 0.7Mb during a billing period, each handset will be billed $1.99 per handset for data usage. Remember there is no unlimited Mobil Web 2 usage on Night and Weekends as with the America's Choice Plan.
4) Verizon is being unhelpful by not providing information on the bill for grandfathered America's Choice Subscribers to indicate how many Mb they have used each month in addition to minutes used. So that they can determine which plan is best for them.
