Verizon: Reports Of Low iPhone Sales 'Incorrect'
First Two Hours Broke All First Day Launch Records

Leaked information from inside Apple suggested that the initial sales of the Verizon iPhone weren't quite what either Apple or Verizon were expecting, despite the fact that Verizon did set a single-day device pre-order record. Offering little hard data outside the fact that 1 million Verizon iPhones have been sold, Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead this week insisted that the leaked data was "incorrect," and that within the first two hours Verizon sold more phones than any first day launch in its history.

According to Mead, the short lines seen (which many made a big deal of) were simply because 60% of iPhone sale occurred online -- and many users pre-ordered the device. Verizon says they'll double the number of stores selling iPhone from 4,000 to 8,000 in a few days. Mead also hinted at a looming LTE iPhone, simply stating "You'll see more coming from Apple on LTE."

There's a significant number of reasons that people may have yet not nibbled on the Verizon iPhone, a number of which have nothing to do with Verizon.

One, people may be happy with AT&T, however unlikely that is in traditionally congested markets like NYC or San Francisco. Two, people could be locked in under long-term AT&T ETFs. Three, people could be waiting for the iPhone 5, which following traditional Apple operating procedure should be unveiled around June. Four, people could be waiting for an LTE-based iPhone, for Verizon's LTE network for mature, and to see whether or not Verizon will charge you one first born child per megabyte when their smartphone LTE pricing is finally unveiled.

Last year's technology brings record sales...

More proof that most people in this country are idiots.
