Verizon To Expand DSL Service In West Virginia...
(old news - 04:29PM Wednesday Jul 12 2006)
CHARLESTON, W.Va.
Verizon West Virginia is investing nearly five million dollars to bring high-speed Internet access to rural areas of the state.

The company announced today that upgrades are planned for 15 switching-center locations that do not provide digital subscriber line service and at more than 90 remotely located facilities.

By the end of the year, Verizon plans to have all one-hundred-and-42 of its West Virginia switching centers D-S-L-capable and more than 38-thousand additional phone lines eligible for D-S-L service in locations such as Apple Grove, Franklin, Meadow Bridge and Rock Cave.

Stan Cavendish, president of Verizon West Virginia, says that in all, nearly three-hundred-and-50 West Virginia communities will have access to D-S-L service.
