Are you satisfied? Are you satisfied? Are you satisfied?
(old news - 09:28AM Friday Sep 19 2008)
tags: business · telco · Oddities · consumers · Verizon Online DSL
Network World reports that some Verizon customers were recently bombarded with automated calls by the telco inquiring about their customer satisfaction level. In some instances, users were called as many as nine times in a twenty-four hour period. Fortunately, only about 1,400 FiOS and DSL customers were impacted by the ghost in the machine, though the customers who were impacted say that no limit of navigating automated phone prompts would get the calls to stop, and, when warned of the problem, Verizon reps were sympathetic, but ultimately unhelpful. Verizon says a hardware glitch led to the problems, which should now be resolved, but Verizon's dysfunctional response highlights many customers' experiences with the telco's support operations.

Typical VZ CSRs

Nothing new here...

If only the Verizon CSRs worked this well.

Verizon Didn't Need To Give Me Another Reason to Dump Them

But this certainly helps. It's a shame, because the local low level people always seem to be very helpful. But the crap I've had to go thru with them sinks below sublime.

Verizon reps were sympathetic, but ultimately unhelpful.

This describes Verizon perfectly. Their system is so f-ed up, that reps CAN'T fix it. Everything is so compartmentalized it takes a committee on the phone to even discuss it. They are a complete mess. If your service works, consider yourself lucky. If you have problems, God help you. It will take countless hours on the phone and months to resolve (if resolved at all).

Going on 6 months now, with no end in sight and I am just simply trying to switch my long distance provider from ATT to Verizon so that I can receive the triple play discounts.

Re: Happened to us

Whats funny is that on one of the additional calls, my wife told the rep that our bill is all up to date. Then my wife told me the rep asked her if my wife would like to pay the next bill early. She laughed.

I just checked with my wife and it was American Express, not Verizon. I wonder if they use 3rd party services for this and it was the same service? A pretty big coincidence if not.

Tarnishing the brand...

Verizon is doing much to tarnish it's brand lately. These foulups just add to the list. Gouging customers is another.

The irony of your post is obvious...

I actually got an American on the phone last time I called them...I don't know how I pulled that one off... but I'm sure that that'll be the first number I call again if I do need help. I thought they completely went outsourced... guess I'm wrong... not the first time.

They All Use Robo-Dialers Eventually

Verizon isn't the only company that harasses subscribers with the robo-dialer for whatever reason. The only companies that haven't started (as of yet) are the water/gas/electric companies, but I'm sure they're just aching to use the automated dialer.

It's only a matter of time as most organizations that shelled out for the technology seem to want to use it whether the customer consents to it or not. I had to write several nastigrams and otherwise threaten to stop service with the water delivery company that insisted on ringing my number with their auto-dialer an hour before the delivery truck was scheduled to pick up/drop off water. This, of course, was useless as even if I had forgotten, calling an hour in advance to remind me would not have helped get the empties out on the porch since I was at the office.

:-P The ultimate way for Verizon to make make money...

I know they didn't but it would be funny if that showed up on a bill!
