Verizon VoiceWing Broadband Phone Service launched this evening at the following website: »www22.verizon.com/ForYourHome/VO···me.aspx! It's offering $29.95 for the current Verizon Online DSL customers and $34.95 for other customers. LNP is available, but its not known if it will work if you have Verizon Online DSL (or how it will work).
First let me say I love Verizon DSL, but VoiceWing is not a great deal for DSL customers if you the Freedom package. What are you getting. Let me explain
Freedom package in NYC is $60.00 if you have dsl past the first 6 months its 34.95 for VoiceWIng sounds like savings right. Now add $15.00 for the regular phone line that you have to keep. Not such a bargin now is it. But wait even more how about the $5.00 off dsl you get for having the freedom package. Oh wait thats $55.00 a month and now you have 2 #'s instead of 1.
Now Im hoping for a "Shadow Line" Where you don't need a pots line. But until then is it such a great deal??
Almost makes you want to pay for cable so you can get the voicewing product. Think about that $45.00 + 40.00 for CABLE Internet+ VOIP $85.00 DSL INternet + VOIP - 30+55 = 85.00 seems the same right except which has faster speeds cable. Someone made a pricing error for Verizon DSL customers now if you have a shadow line.. 85-15 = 60.00 DSL wins hands down. So now what to do.
i did the math in NJ and picked vw freedom $74 after taxes +DSL $29.95 = $105
voicewing $35 after taxes + dsl 29.95 + plain line (w/call forwarding to forward my old number to my vw phone) $15 = $80
savings = $25 plus -- i have backup for 911 and power outage because i have the plain line still. also i have two lines essentially-- which is handy if both my husband and i are working from home.
i have had both dsl and cable -- dsl works much better. so switching back to cable was never an option for me.
