The voice over IP forum has picked up the scent of a new VOIP provider, attracted an EVP to defend their new website, and sparked an interesting discussion on the different features each service offers.

The more the better

The more VoIP competition there is, the better the pricing and the better the chance that some VoIP providers (like Vonage did) won't go all telco on us with bad customer service and junk fees 'cause it's so easy to switch.

VoIP is great...the same can't be said for all VoIP companies. Competition is always good as far as I'm concerned and this new broadvox, from what little I've read about them seems to be on the right track with improved 911 services. Every company that does a little better stimulates their peers to do the same.

Re: Voip

If you don't care, then why bother taking the time to read the article (short, as it is) and respond to it?

Re: Voip

I am tired of hearing about this useless technology and wish it would be banned forever. I would appreciate it if you would mind your own business and let me speak my mind.

Re: Voip

voip is where its at (besides cell phones) voip is the only option to have a phone line with a different area codes, forme that helps a lot, with the spotty cell reception in my home I cant rely on cell coverage and with companies like Vonage my friends back home can call me for free.

Now I do know Voip doeshave its ups and downs with reception (or I should say connection) but at least I dont have to worry about what time I have to be on and off the phone and watch my minutes like cell phones

Now if local telco would let you have your own area code or better yet why even have long distance charge for calls in the US??

Vonage for 40 or sbc for 60 for the same features?? no brainer here

You may be tired of hearing about it but it certainly isn't useless. It's been my home phone service since February of this year.

vonage i love it and hate it

i have had Vonage for over a year now never have had a problem with the service i love it well for the past two days when i make a call it is so choppy that the people i call can not hear me so i use my cell phone to call them back
well last night i called Vonage was on hold for one hour that sucks big time i like the old days the most i was on hold was for 10 min so the guy at Vonage tells me he will send me a BLANK UPDATE (what the hell is a blank update) so i called Vonage this am and told them i want one month free for the long hold time well they gave it to me and that's when i love Vonage and know i just need to make sure the phone works

Packet 8

I am thinking of switching to packet 8, has anyone had packet 8 for a while and had good quality. I have used Vonage but cannot switch my home number with them and would like to keep it and that is why I am considering packet 8 but would like some feedback first.
