Recent rumors of new speeds for Denver-based Wide Open West were correct. The company's website now lists all of the upgrades to the company's existing tiers. The company's fastest speed was previously a 6Mbps/1Mbps tier they charged $63.99 for, but WOW has now unveiled faster 15Mbps tiers. The freshly announced upgrades vary only slightly from the rumors that have been circulating for weeks in our forums. Here's the changes in a nutshell:

•The "Value" (768kbps/256kbps) and "Basic" (2Mbps/500kbps) tiers have been replaced by "Xcite 2Mbps Internet," which offers 2Mbps/1Mbps service for $41 per month.
•The "Advanced" (4Mbps/500kbps) and "Ultra" (6Mbps/650kbps) tiers have been replaced by "Xcite 4Mbps Internet," which offers 8Mbps/1Mbps service for $58 per month.
•The "Ultra Plus" (6Mbps/1Mbps) tier has been replaced by "Xtreme 15Mbps Internet," which offers 15Mbps/1Mbps for $68 per month.
•The company has added a new "Xtreme Turbo 15Mbps Internet" tier, which offers 15Mbps/2Mbps for $73 a month.

Check out this thread in our forums for user impressions of the new speeds. Many users report that they need to call WOW in order to see the upgrade, which should be available to all users in short order.

Those are internet only prices. Bundle tv and/phone service and they go down, just like every other telco or cable company.

Yes, but the internet-only price is sky-high, more expensive than other cable companies' similar speed tiers. That said, the option for high speeds is nice. $68 for 15/1 vs. $63 for 8/2...guess I'd have to get the highest-end package to make it worth my while if I was to go onto WOW.

Seriously though, $41/month for the lowest tier of speed? That's almost as high as the standard tier for the likes of TWC (7/512). Pricing is squarely above DSL.

And the majority of their subs subscribe to at least 2 services thus making the price cheaper.

Unfortunately it doesnt make it cheaper when you cant afford 2 of their services.

umm, people want to pick and choose what they can afford.

It's a good thing that when i go to the market to buy milk that im not forced to buy bread to keep my total cost down.

If they can't afford two, then they really can't afford one then either. The price different between having one and two is so little it's not even funny. But then again, the majority of the people out there live beyond their means anyways.

my provider gives you 15/2 for 56, so 73 is definitely not the best price out there.

fios is probably even cheaper for the speed value but since i do not have that i could be wrong

I have had Direcway/Hughes for years. I've had trouble with them some until the latest system DW7000. It is blazing fast 1 to 1.5 kbps down most of the time- Kath159

Is $56 with or without tv service? The $73 listed for WOW is without tv service. Start bundling and the price drops like all companies do.

Cool, maybe Time Warner will increase upload now?

Hmm...this is good for my area, since Time Warner is still only offering 768 kbps upload (with 15 mbps download + powerboost).

Hopefully they'll step up their game and increase the upload speed, since I could switch to WOW and get 2 meg upload speed whenever I wanted.

lucky u get 15M down, over here TWC only gives us 10Mbps down and 512kb or 1mb up depending on where u live.

Interesting...TWC back home is 15/2 on the top speed tier for whatever reason even though they're the only ISP in the area that can deliver speeds over 2 Mbps down and 512k up.

Better than Comcast in price

Well they have consistently beat Comcast's pricing when combined with TV. Also their bottom tier pricing is better. Or better put, where we can get Comcast and WOW, Comcast lowers their pricing.

I have wished I could get WOW for over 5 years now...

They don't enforce any. But I've heard that if you're maxing the connection 24x7, for long periods of time, like a month or two, then you do get a warning. Nothing has ever been posted here about being terminated though.
