i fear apple's legal team has just started the dark side walk with the riaa and the like... say anything to get what you want... at any cost... truth be damned.

The long-expected deal means Microsoft's new Bing search engine will be combined with Yahoo's experience attracting advertisers in the first serious threat to Google Inc -- if the companies get regulatory approval and can make the partnership work.
Yahoo estimated the deal would boost its annual operating income by about $500 million and yield capital expenditure savings of $200 million. Yahoo also expects the deal to boost annual operating cash flow by about $275 million.
Under the deal announced on Wednesday, Microsoft's Bing search engine will power search queries on Yahoo's sites. Yahoo's sales force will be responsible for selling premium search ads to big buyers for both companies.
But experts said the deal would likely get the go-ahead after examination by Obama administration antitrust officials since it would create a stronger rival to market leader Google .
Yahoo can concentrate on selling ads on its websites, while still generating revenue from search ads without the expense of maintaining its own search engine. -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page
| | | | | | | Re: Details on the 10 yr Microsoft - Yahoo serach/ad deal Actually Google is being quite honest. If you understood the psychology of Brin and Page, as well as Schmidt you'd realize they were completely sincere when they tried to partner up with Yahoo. At the time Microsoft was trying to buy Yahoo and Google was the one who prevented that deal from happening. They actually honest-to-goodness prefer the market have more competitors, not less, because they have confidence in the superiority of their products and because they have the mindset and ethics of the "little guy".
Microsoft combining with Yahoo is stupid. Combining 2 inferior technologies does not suddenly make a better one. All this does is consolidate the market even further and increase Yahoo's already handsome profit margins.

However, I do believe Google is a much better company when it comesto honesty (and a whole bunch of other things).

Simba7 join:2003-03-24 Billings, MT | Lawmakers to propose ban on driving while texting I hope this thing passes nationwide. I am soo sick of these people that pull this crap. I have almost been hit 8 times this year because some dipsh*t was texting or talking on their cellphone.
I hope they make it a law that, in order to talk and drive, hands-free equipment will be REQUIRED. TEXTING and driving will be prohibited and fined (almost the same as drinking and driving).
I use a Bluetooth earpiece when I talk. | Frankly I'm amazed and frighten by the fact that people even remotely consider texting while driving, have people really become this cerebrally challenged?

Blake Kids are stupid. A law banning any use of cellphones while driving, except emergenices, should be the law
Actually, using a cellphone any way you chose, even hands free, is the same as driving while drunk at a .08 level. Texting was estimaged to be 175% more likely to have an accident. You are 75% more likely to have an accident just talking on a cellphone.
4 people have rearended me; all of them talking on their cellphones. On cop told a lady, "If there was a law, I'd give you a ticket." He did nail her with reckless driving since she hit a parked car going 30 mph but my car had shock absorbers and I only moved a few feet, but enough to be in oncoming traffic. She griped to him I left the scene (for a parking lot passed the intersection) and he said, "Huh? He made the call to 911!" That got him to nail her with reckless driving.

| Re: Lawmakers to propose ban on driving while texting I was rear ended by a person who had a dog in their car, they glanced at the dog for a second and hit me. Lets Ban all pets from cars, also adjusting stereos while driving......in fact, lets outlaw anything but having your hands at 10 and 2 and driving at or below the speed limit. That will put a stop to traffic accidents!
And before you start spouting off statistics about how many people are using cell phones when they get into accidents, please consider all the OTHER THINGS that make people crash like being sleepy, distracted by kids, sun in their eyes, ....etc. Would making laws against all that increase any public safety whatsoever? No, cell phones are just an easy target for a grandstanding politician to fight so they can gain some political good points.

| | Jailbreaking iPhone could pose threat to national security, Right... and in other news, third-party firmware on linksys routers causes more threats to national security. I don't buy it. If there is a chance of crashing the tower with a phone, maybe they should look into software issues within the tower, as irregardless of what you might think, if you can crash the tower with an iphone by jailbreaking it, what's to say that you can't do the same thing with specially written software for laptop data cards? I think it's more of protecting Apple's bottom line than it is about national security. Thoughts? | |
