RE:Falcone mulls voluntary bankruptcy for LightSquared

He is going to declare bankruptcy, but he is still saying he will solve GPS interference and keep his business running. Fat chance!!

Re: RE:Falcone mulls voluntary bankruptcy for LightSquared

It's all bad... a lot of investors losing BIG $$ and the consumers losing some more choice in mobile data/telecom. If there was one more competitor in the market we could have seen some prices drop significantly.

I am happy enough with Verizon but I sure would like to see someone force their hand on prices... then there is ATT but let's not go THERE

He's going to be sued by investors who will claim he mislead them, which he probably did since he still insists it's all politics and Government shenanigans that have blocked LightSquared and that there's no real problem with GPS.

Re: RE:Falcone mulls voluntary bankruptcy for LightSquared

I haven't followed the case nor do I have expertise in the subject BUT not for a minute would I think that the Telco's lack the political power/juice/influence to make the "Scientific results" go their way.

No... I am not crying conspiracy BUT it sure wouldn't surprise me. If LightSquared were to get going full steam it would change the entire telco/data industry BIG TIME and that is a big source of $$$ to mess with. You can bet there is some some serious dough available with the incumbents to make it hard for an outsider to join the club.

Just saying.....

Re: RE:Falcone mulls voluntary bankruptcy for LightSquared

Oh yeah, they are against him, no doubt....

... but the GPS issues just couldn't be put to bed. That brought out their lobbyists (including the DOD) and since Lightsquared's own tests couldn't mitigate interference that doomed them.

If they had been able to show the effect on GPS was minimal or manageable (They insist it is, others disagree) then they'd be green lighted. There's evidence the FCC was fairly pro-Lightsquared, at least at first.
