PS4 so what

Yes of course hardware evolves and gets better.

The machine sounds great.

But lets face up to the truth, will you buy the games for it?

Will you like the fact you can play your 80 dollar game, and then throw it in the garbage because it will have no resale worth?

You won't be buying any used games for the same reason you won't be selling them.

I see this traumatizing stores that NEED that used game market. I don't see them calling this notion good news.

Gamers will not miraculously get rich just because they have to. Game sales could really possibly just fizzle.

Not that I care, I'm not a console gamer. Nor is my son. But I have watched young gamers play a game to death and then expect the resale to finance the next game to some extent. That won't be happening.

I think corporations have largely lost their grip on reality lately.
They bitch about piracy all while doing their best to bugger their product and piss off the people willing to buy it.

I really REALLY hope the PS4 is a wonderful machine, that will sell so few games the company has to ditch the machines for peanuts to get rid of them.

>>>>No it doesn't. They went from an impressive Cell 7core to an AMD 8core. We all know the GPU is the workhorse...but one more processor core? Atleast the Radeon will be nice (nVidia has left bad taste since RRoD in xbox, 8600MT, 8800GT...I can go on about nVidia crap GPUs bump issues)

But lets face up to the truth, will you buy the games for it?

>>>>What? Gamestop built a business exploiting the stupid. You bought a license to use something (you never own that software) and then trade it in for credit that is 7.5% its original price you paid and you can't do the math? You own stock on Gamestop? Sounds like someone has hidden agenda...

Gamers will not miraculously get rich just because they have to. Game sales could really possibly just fizzle.
>>>>History repeats. Look at Atari Jaguar, or ET dumping... (really, you think playing games will make you rich? more like broke.

>>>>Corporations have not lost anything but those that seen their "game" with DLC, server control, buy up and lay off schemes.

I really REALLY hope the PS4 is a wonderful machine, that will sell so few games the company has to ditch the machines for peanuts to get rid of them.
>>>>I read how cheap people complain because they can't afford what everyone else is buying. You sound bitter. How about not feeding the machine. Stop trading in those $60 titles for $5 and kill Gamestop. Then How about stop subscribing to LIVE for $60 a yr (I never ever pay that) or PSN. Gaming is an addiction just like gambling, alcohol, tobacco... they know what you want, give it to you, then sell you a little more and you gladly buy.

I had to bite that bait...

$60-80 is pretty much the default "New Game Price", regardless of if it was on console or PC (I use a PC due to how crappy my internet is anyways) I'd feel bad paying that much and not having the possibility of making any percent of the difference back when I was done with it; many games don't last very long and my money could be better spent elsewhere anyways.

It should be said.

I buy my games as digital downloads mainly from Matrix Games/Slitherine, publishers of serious hardcore wargames.

They sell the game as an installer with a serial and absolutely no strings attached ever.

Most traditional wargames are games you can replay till hell freezes over. Thus an 80 dollar wargame will outlive the machine it is played on. I am still a fan of Steel Panthers released in 97.

I don't buy games myself, that have a finite play through process.

But I see the younguns that do. Keep in mind, 'youngun' = anyone 35 and under to me. I often marvel at how they can drop 80 in a game, even if great, and play it to death in a month and sell it for an insulting price considering the store puts it on the shelf for maybe 5-10 bucks off as 'used'.

Those stores really do use used to survive. If used dies, you will see a lot of stores close.

It won't hurt Steam any though. Steam only allows you to play on one machine, but they figured out how to do that idea correctly at least.

Lastly, the hardware 'looked' impressive, but, I am not a hardware spec expert either. I will know if the PS4 is any good when my buddy has one. If he doesn't get one, it will mean it's shit.

My son has no interest in it at all. He had no interest in the PS3 as well. There wouldn't be one in the home if I didn't use it as a media intermediary. I own one game, and I think I bought it for the wrong reason. I use my PS3 mainly to watch Netflix on my TV. It was the right price at the time.
