Google is getting rid of Google Reader on July 1

One more of their products bites the dust - Google reader dies on July 1.
»googlereader.blogspot.com/2013/0···der.html

We have just announced on the Official Google Blog that we will soon retire Google Reader (the actual date is July 1, 2013). We know Reader has a devoted following who will be very sad to see it go. We’re sad too.

There are two simple reasons for this: usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we’re pouring all of our energy into fewer products. We think that kind of focus will make for a better user experience.

I moved my Google Reader RSS feeds to MY.YAHOO.COM.

So, we need a list of good options for Google Reader replacement. I have used Google Reader for so long and have been so happy with it, I have no idea what the alternatives are. I am truly lost.

I use Iceweasel on Debian. Whatever I move to needs to be compatible with one or the other (or both) of those.

I will take a look at Yahoo; thanks for the suggestion.

no paying for it. The same as they made comments about GoogleVoice. The shareholders are most likely starting to demand money coming in. If a product isn't making money, then why keep the product around? Why lose money on it??? And there are countless projects that Goog has that is just that. If it wasn't for their Adsense system that they BOUGHT they wouldn't be worth anything today unless they started charging. They've given up on developing their own products and are now just buying.

Right now, I am trying Feedly, but it is bogged down with so many shocked Google Reader users trying it, too.
