We are in this category. Except for sports, there is absolutely nothing on cable or satellite I want. I find movies, sitcoms, reality shows very boring, so we subscribe to PBS. Weather I can get on my cell phone. I can't see paying for a lot of crap I don't want just to get what I do.
RapidTV's article hits the nail on the head. PayTV is stuck, unable to grow its pie.
It doesn't have a pricing model that works for both the vast majority (family households) of subscribers while enabling the single/young-adult access to the same content for a proportionate price. So the choice remains: "none of the above".
It wouldn't be impossible to design a tier that works for the Solo Viewer, but its a hard sell in the boardroom, where math has to be linear and fit on a powerpoint.
My cable level has always been broadcast basic. And I supplant that with a high gain outside antenna array so that I can get channels that BB is not providing. I find myself using the antenna more than I use the cable LOL. -- I support the right to keep and arm bears.
