Re: Upholding Internet Sales Tax Law, a Justice Invites a New Case

The states say that they are losing out on millions because they can't collect sales tax on online purchases. Courts will look at the law and ultimately decide that everything bought online is taxable. The states will get their extra millions and five years down the road, they'll all be broke again and will be complaining that they need some new tax to keep them afloat.

Here's an idea: Maybe they should stop handing out tax gifts to Hollywood to entice them to shoot in their state, a practice that costs them millions and never ends up making them any money.

Re: Then re-emburse me for lost time

So, if my state wishes to charge me sales tax on something I'm buying from outside the state, why don't they put up check stations on every road inbound to it's borders and collect tax from people who drive out of state and bring back purchases? I buy gas out of state and other items and pay tax for that state. However, let me shop for a pair of shoes online that after driving to 4 stores, calling 3 more, and dealing with the crappy roads and you want to charge me taxes on it? How about paying me for my time in doing so. So, you can KMA!!! Since Michigan refuses to use my tax dollars for the intended purpose of said tax, i.e., road repair money going to police, fire and teachers, then here's a news flash for all you Michigan legislators; When you STOP diverting money to projects that were not intended for that money, I MIGHT consider paying for the few items I get online. Otherwise, I will buy from friggin china, through a 3rd party overseas seller if I have to and do what you do to your voters, ignore them.
