This seems like computer hacking. Should an intruder be innocent if the system they hacked was insecure? Or, does the intruder bear the responsibility for knowing that they're trying to hack a system that they were not authorized to access?
Personally, I think we should ban reality shows. I'm getting tired of how our depraved entertainment values have led to this sort of stuff (including the recent "balloon boy" episode.).

All your rationalizations about how they didn't misrepresent themselves don't change the above simple fact. When an intruder hacks a system, even using their real name and IP address, they've still hacked a system. Entered something they knew they were not granted access to. It doesn't matter how poor the system's security was.

I don't know if a federal law exists (if the Secret Service manned the gates). Or, a DC law (if the DC police manned the gates, which is usually the case).
said by jus10:As to whether they lied to get in, I suppose the first question was if anyone even asked them if they were on the guest list.
News reports say the couple insisted they were on the list and that a mistake was made. When turned away from the main entrance they went to a side entrance.
I don't believe it's unreasonable to believe they could be charged with a crime. They clearly intended to deceive law enforcement to enter a secure area. There are plenty of laws which criminalize such conduct in other circumstances (computer hacking, obstructing a peace officer).
There may not be a law for this particular instance. But, it's very similar to others.

| It's really crazy that it has gotten to that point. There was a time when you could go into the White House and talk to the president. You know, him being an elected leader and not a king or whatnot.
Rather sad really.
As for the situation, I don't think the administration will press the issue. The couple will get a lambasting by government and the secret service agents who let this happen will be back to hand counting bills in the bottom of the treasury or something but pursuing this is a distraction and there is too much on the administration's plate right now as it is. | |

The secret service dropped the ball on security, and let 2 people gain intimate access to the president, who shouldn't have been there. How might have this situation been different had one of these people had some composition 4? Or Pancuronium and an empty syringe? Or perhaps some kind of biological agent? Or some Polonium 210? Acts attributable to a state are treated vastly differently. If an official diplomat slipped our President some ricin, the country which that diplomat represents would be cinders and ashes within 72 hours.
2. Anyone to be in the presence of the President is background checked in advance. That tends to weed out people inclined to slip some him ricin. People like Tim McVeigh who are prone to extreme acts tend to have a history. It's pretty rare that the average person chosen to meet the president, with no history of affiliation with radical groups, causes, etc., would suddenly pull something like that.
What the couple did was bypass the preliminary background check. There may have been a name check at the gate. But, not the preliminary check to get on the list.

That's what they do in other countries. They bury someone, then transfer the bones to a sarcophagus. Cuba does this because of the shortage of burial grounds. Israel did it back around the time of Christ. (Recent bone boxes discovered with inscriptions confirming Biblical accounts.).
I don't see them sealing the cave indefinitely. The family will want a proper burial. Cave enthusiasts will want the cave reopened (even if it's a generation from now).

They're open-ended, fragments of ideas, that mean whatever people want them to mean. As used recently, Hope and Change are purposefully vague.
History is packed with episodes with charismatic leaders drawing along masses with overt promises of change. We've read about dozens of these characters, before we ever finish school.
Now, President O'Bama isn't an evil guy and this was never about Him. We've never even had an evil PotUS; only a fool believes otherwise. But one day, someone will run for president who truly is evil.
When HE wins, it's because HE promises hope and change to a disconnected people who feel complete because they are manipulated. HE wins the Presidency because a victimized class believed the energy of their own stampede gave them meaningful power - to be part of change.
It will be identical to this last election, just with More fervor - More energy - More idealism. It'll feel GREAT to submit and be a part of something powerful. HIS supporters will believe it was their own idea to put HIM atop their shoulders and carry HIM to power. They will weep with Joy for HIS victory.
A problem is that there will likely be no Outside Power to bomb us into submission. There will also be no 'United Nations (States)' to afterward offer us a helping hand back into Prosperity and Liberty.
We will likely own Change for a very long time.

Cheating on wife rumors cause of fight with wife?
In a 24-hour span that landed Woods on the front of the gossip and metro sections for all the wrong reasons, he was accused of cheating on his wife in a front-page tabloid headline
One of the most skilled sports figures of the past half-century drove his car into a tree at 2 a.m., hours after the Enquirer story? There was no clarification from Woods about the accident account, either. Like where he was headed, what he was doing in a car at that hour on a holiday and how he managed not to miss a fire hydrant that had presumably been in the same spot the entire 10 years he has lived in that abode. Some speculation on what REALLY happened: »www.hotmommagossip.com/
Its now been reported by Windermere police chief Daniel Saylor, that officers found Tiger laying in the street with his wife, Elin, hovering over him.
She told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and came out and broke the back window with a golf club. Woods had lacerations to his upper and lower lips, and he had blood in his mouth, Saylor said.
You think she heard the accident and the first thing she does is grab a golf club before she came out? He's always been a huge supporter of big oil and dismisses ALL environmental issues as "tree hugging crap." My favorite thing he does *Unlike Coburn* is that he puts tons and tons of pork barrel and earmarks and special lobbyist rewards into large popular bills that have huge support--- and then he votes against the final bill, which of course PASSES, and all his earmarks and pork pass.... Then he gets back here to Oklahoma and campaigns on how he's conservative and for a balanced budget and against waste etc etc and he points to his record of "No" votes on these big bills and the Okie public suck it up and believe him about what a great cost cutter he is--- and vote from him again! When called out on this behavior he claimed it was "standard practice" and "acceptable" because "everybody does it". No, they don't. Some vote for their beliefs and their pet projects. Inhofe votes to look good. Oh well. He's basically got a seat for life thanks to our Voting bloc here. Acts like he fools everyone and the public is stupid. Well, he's wrong on part #1 but apparently has got it down on #2 it seems. It works for him. Rofl, Inhofe, for all the bad you may conjure up about him is an angel compared to the anti-American, anti-military, racist, condescending Boxer. Not to mention the disrespecting of our military by telling a decorated hero not to call her maam. What a pos Boxer is. -- All I Need To Know About muslims I learned On 9/11

| This looks rather painful.... Microsoft recently forced workers at the inaugural Microsoft Store in California to perform a (somewhat) synchronized electric slide dance routine. The incredibly uncomfortable display, which features a heavy dose of overweight white dudes (and awkwardly faded jeans), doesn't appear spontaneous at all and lasts for an intensely painful four minutes and 44 seconds. »www.switched.com/2009/11/18/micr···ew-lo%2F

 | | | And rather pathetic, on the part of microsoft. What were they trying to do, make an apple style ad using real store employees while they are working?
Microsoft stores will fail, but i feel they may pump money into them even if they loose millions before finally giving up.

| I actually LIKE Windows 7 I've been a Mac user for years, and I still love my Mac. But I was recently issued a laptop at my PT job and got to play around with Windows 7 last night and today. I've got to say I'm pretty darn impressed. Boot times and shut down times are short. The browser renders pages in an instant and the whole look and feel of the OS is much improved. Light years ahead of the other systems we have running XP SP3
Guess Vista was the beta. I think Microsoft might have a winner on it's hands this time. I actually LIKE Windows 7! -- Petty people are disproportionably corrupted by petty power
