Love it.

But mark my words, this guy either gets locked up for it (they will find a reason) or gets a protracted visit from child protective services.

Like I said, love it, but this thing going viral is not going to end well for this guy...

Shooting the laptop was completely wrong, first off discharging a weapon in a populated area is dangerous.

Though this will teach her a valued lesson, do not rant publicly if your father is like this. Or if you decide to do such remember to pour Gorilla Glue down the barrel of his gun first.

Re: How to handle your teen child who disses you on Facebook

It's hard to be sure of that from the video. "Populated" is a subjective term, and if the authorities get a boner for this guy, he's in for some rough treatment.

I'm a firm believer of the ideal that teenagers of the present age are rife with entitlement, and I think this guy is on the right page in that respect, but given the world we live in today I think he's most likely toast. I think one way or another someone with a law degree & a black robe (meaning a Judge) finds a way to see fit this guy never again legally possesses a firearm. Not that I agree with it, but I see it coming.

Hence, You will NEVER EVER EVER see videos of me on YouTube discharging a firearm(Glock 27 on my hip as I type)...

My thoughts exactly, why use a .45 to make little holes in the computer when you can drop a big rock on top and totally destroy it (more spectacular). Drop it from a tall building or small plane or just blow it up with firecrackers and gas.

I think I would have

1.) sold the laptop- cleaned it off, reloaded it and sold it. Gave it to someone who would be more appreciative.
2.) any iphones and ipods would now belong to me. I would just take them to the office. company ship them to my superboss in TX and tell him to lock them up in a drawer till I say so. I figure if he wants them that bad it's a long trip between Southern IL to Dallas, TX by foot. Much less know who he is or what floor they might be on. Even if I had to pay for the shipping I would still do this one!
3.) the used desktop with matching profile will only be able to pull up Wikipedia, and land on the definition of "respect"
4.) Implement a DNS level block and enforce passwords on all machines.

A North Carolina father is being hailed as a parenting hero and derided as a bully, after trying to teach his daughter a lesson by shooting up her laptop.

The daughter, it would seem, had written a long rant on Facebook about why she's sick of her parents and about how they nag her to do too many chores.

Though she had attempted to filter her post so that her parents wouldn't see the rant, her dad found it anyway.

Last WWI vet on Earth dies

The last stone in a very long road.

said by the bbc :

A woman thought to be the world's last known surviving service member of World War I has died aged 110.

Florence Green, from King's Lynn, Norfolk, served as a mess steward at RAF bases in Marham and Narborough.

She died in her sleep on Saturday night at Briar House care home, King's Lynn. Mrs Green had been due to celebrate her 111th birthday on 19 February.

The world's last known combat veteran of World War I, Briton Claude Choules, died in Australia aged 110 in May 2011.

The last three World War I veterans living in the UK - Bill Stone, Henry Allingham and Harry Patch - all died in 2009.

Ever Enter a Room & Forget Why You Went There?

Ever Enter a Room & Forget Why You Went There?

»blogs.discovermagazine.com/80bea···doorway/

New research suggests the mere act of walking through a doorway helps people forget, which could explain many millions of confusing moments that happen each day around the world. A study published recently in The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology found that participants who walked through doorways in a virtual reality environment were significantly more likely to forget memories formed in another room, compared with those who traveled the same distance but crossed no thresholds.

Notre Dame University researcher Gabriel Radvansky says doorways serve as a type of “event boundary” that the brain uses to separate and store memories. When you enter a new room, your brain updates its understanding of what’s going on in the new environment, which takes some mental effort. This parsing of memory, albeit subtle, leaves the information encoded in the other room (i.e. “Now I’m going to my room to fetch some knickers”) less available in your new location.

Happens all the time…form a thought to get something in another room, and upon arriving there can’t remember why I came. Think about why for 5-10 seconds then decide that it probably wasn’t important enough to remember, and return to the first room where I promptly remember why I went to the second room.

Motorola Droid 4

I was reading a review on the Motorola Droid 4.

Looks like a good phone. I like having the keyboard. The one thing I am concerned about is the non-removable battery. Any Android phone I have ever owned needed to have the battery pulled at least once every couple of weeks, sometimes more, when the thing locked up hard. Battery pulls seem to be needed sometimes just to get the thing back online. I wonder how this phone can be hard reset? Maybe there is a button or something?

They've fixed this, at least for my HTC Evo 3D. Every few weeks it just spontaneously shuts off. Sometimes in the middle of a call, others while just sitting locked/idle on the desk. Not once have I had to pull the battery

I so agree with that. Better yet take all the wireless spectrum and make it like the EU. I like the idea of being able to get great coverage and equal coverage everywhere I go regardless of carrier. Not to mention keeping my phone when I want to switch carriers since they all run on the same bands.
