Comcast wins right to ignore subpoenas from porn lawyer

Comcast won in federal court the right to ignore subpoenas from a porn lawyer who they claim never intends to sue anyone and was using the info to extort money from non-paying porn watchers.

»torrentfreak.com/comcast-wins-pr···-120622/

A big win for Comcast and its subscribers in a federal court in Illinois.

Comcast successfully defended its subscribers from being harassed by so-called copyright trolls.

“Plaintiffs should not be allowed to profit from unfair litigation tactics whereby they use the offices of the Court as an inexpensive means to gain Doe defendants’ personal information and coerce ‘settlements’ from them,” Comcast’s lawyers wrote.

“It is evident in these cases – and the multitude of cases filed by plaintiffs and other pornographers represented by their counsel – that plaintiffs have no interest in actually litigating their claims against the Doe defendants, but simply seek to use the Court and its subpoena powers to obtain sufficient information to shake down the Doe defendants.”

Comcast cited several previous cases to back up their claims and pointed out that federal rules require courts to deny discovery “to protect a party or person from annoyance, embarrassment, oppression, or undue burden or expense.”

These arguments were successful because the judge quashed the subpoenas for the Comcast subscribers and dismissed the cases in question.

Bullied grandma on NY bus gets $540,000 tax free

Hey, it paid real well for the bullied, crying grandma whose Youtube video showed her being bullied.

So far people on the internet have donated at least taxfree $540,000 to send her on vacation.

Max Sidorov, the young man who started the fundraising campaign on Wednesday morning, was hoping to raise $5,000 for Klein, but that was peanuts for you. You blew past that number in just five hours.

The last time I checked, 25,271 people had donated a total of $544,463 to the Klein's vacation fund. That means the average donation was about $21.53

Someone even started a petition on Change.Org to ask President Obama to let Klein receive the donated money tax free. It turned out it was not necessary because there are no taxes on the money being given to Klein, but that didn't stop 7,500-plus people from signing it.

In other news, Anderson Cooper popped the surprise that Southwest Airlines was going to pay for Klein and nine of her family or friends to go to Disneyland for three nights.

Would someone like to volunteer to make a video of me being bullied by a nasty bartender who won't give me free drinks like I asked him? I'll split any money we can get.

Somebody needs to kick those kid's asses. There you go, Future Gangbangers and Welfare Hoes of America.... and the woman herself has stayed nice about it.... no running to press, no filing a lawsuit....

This only came out because one of the idiot morons on the bus posted it online, and then an outraged Max Sidorov started what he thought would be a small fundraising campaign for her, and bamn, people who saw the video donated.

It's nice to see there's still some good people out there, and now these punks are now going to be hopefully dealt with.

Man if I found out my son had done that to someone's grand mother, well I AM of course glad my son never would do that of course, because his life would become bloody hell.
I'd be posting before and after photos of his bedroom. One with his things in it, and one where all that was in it was a bed and a dresser for his clothes and that would have all of his computer and related items missing. And I would be letting the whole planet know 'this is what happens to worthless little shits due to it being illegal to beat them like they deserve'.

The 4 students have had their punishments announced:

The school system in the Rochester suburb of Greece says it will suspend the middle school students from school and from using regular bus transportation for a year for bullying Karen Klein.

The students will be transferred to a special alternative education program because the district is legally required to give the students an education.

Each student will also be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens.

They will be able to reapply to middle school after their complete the discipline.

A fund drive that began in Canada with a goal of $5,000 to help Klein take a nice vacation raised more than $667,304 as of Friday.

Klein could not be reached for comment Friday. However, police have said Klein did not want the boys to face criminal charges.

In the AP interview last week, Klein asked people to leave the boys alone.
"Threatening them? No. That's not the way to go about things," she said. "They're just kids."

"I don't want to judge anybody or put them in jail or anything like that. I just want them to learn a lesson."

Google CEO - Throat Cancer?? Google won't say

Google's CEO Larry Page can't talk and is missing several big corporate meetings. All Google will say is that he lost his voice, but not why. Wall St is not amused after all they went thru with Steve Jobs and his stonewalling investors.

»online.wsj.com/article_email/SB1···yWj.html

Google Inc. says Chief Executive Larry Page has "lost his voice," but it won't say much more about the matter. Some corporate governance experts think the Internet company should speak up.

The billionaire co-founder missed Google's annual meeting Thursday, and the company said he will miss two other important engagements over the next several weeks.

The lack of details surrounding the matter prompted some speculation on Wall Street about whether he may have a serious medical condition.

At the meeting, Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said Mr. Page had "lost his voice" and "can't do any public speaking engagements for the time being," including the coming week's Google annual conference for software developers and at the second-quarter earnings conference call that is expected in mid-July. He added that "Larry will continue to run the company, he's running all the strategic business decisions and all that."

Few watchers of the Internet giant seemed in a joking mood, however. That is especially true in Silicon Valley, where the death of Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs is still fresh in people's minds.

Mr. Anmuth also noted that Mr. Page, who regularly posts links and comments on his Google+ social network account, hasn't posted anything publicly since May 25.

Mr. Page's voice generally sounds slightly strained, raspy or hoarse. A recording of a 20-minute speech last month in London showed Mr. Page noticeably pausing several times to swallow before continuing to speak, but it is unclear whether that was a symptom of his current problem.

Some leadership experts contend Google should divulge more about Mr. Page's voice problem. As the CEO of a public company, "he's not entitled to his privacy,'' said Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a senior associate dean at Yale School of Management.

"We need to know if it [his voice] is imperiled," he said.

Google's conference for developers, called I/O, runs from June 27 to June 29. Its second-quarter earnings report and conference call haven't been scheduled; last year they occurred on the second Thursday of the month, an indication they could be held on July 19, or in nearly four weeks.

Mr. Page's expected absence from the two events seems "highly unusual," said Rick Devine, head of Devine Capital Partners LLC, a high-tech search boutique in Redwood City, Calif. "It's hard to imagine a CEO missing that much stuff and not have a serious problem."

Re: Google CEO - Throat Cancer?? Google won't say

Throat cancer is some serious shit. I have first hand knowledge of it. My father was diagnosed in 1992. They ended up doing a full laryngetomy on him. Brutal surgery. His cancer came back in 1998, and he was gone May of 1999. Mom passed December of next year of a different kind of cancer. Both were in their early 50's.

On a side note, when you're 27 and you bury your 50 year old parents a year and a half apart, you instantly become 40+ in your mind & life experience.

I wish it on no one....

yes because being in prison is good for one's health. I doubt a 68 year old overweight guy who has to adjust to prison life and will most likely be in isolation will suvrive 20-25 years. I'd give him 5 at most.

ADSL speed isn't "fake", just slow.

AT&T also has FTTN ("U-verse").

Any DSL is constrained by distance; live close enough to one of AT&T's nodes and 12mb/s, even 18mb/s are possible.

ADSL has been as reliable as cable, for me, albeit slower. But I have no desire to piss away ~$15 a month on "Limited Basic TV" just to qualify for $42.95 Internet.

But I pitched AT&T over caps, so why would I jump to a capped provider?

I see that "Xfinity" has a voice and Internet bundle for a promotional $39.99 fee (regular price $93.90). Contrast with my "Fusion" (Sonic.net, LLC) voice and Internet for $39.95 a month (not a promotional price). ADSL2+ at 9,156 feet from the DSLAM. Yes, it is just under half the speed of Comcast, but it isn't capped, and with a true static IP address, and running servers is explicitly permitted.

Justin Bieber's NBC concert flop is TV special obsolete

Justin Bieber's NBC concert special a complete flop

Read more: »www.foxnews.com/entertainment/20···yaFLIz8T

WEther one like or can't stand him is the issue but burried in the sotry is this.
"The problem, Berman said, is "they just don't resonate anymore. Someone like Bieber is all over the place -- on YouTube, everywhere -- it's not like you're seeing anything unusual ... You're seeing [pop stars] all the time and I just don't think [TV specials] matter to these fans."

I wonder the reason is young people, as conected as they are, do not watch network TV; they can get they Bieber fix on Youtube or his web page.

Question

Hey guys just want to ask a question. I will be 36 years old in a week and a half. I still check my closet for the boogie man. Is this normal? My dad used him to scare me into obedience when I was a child. I can remember my dad hiding in there one Halloween night, dressed as a demon to scare me when I was about 10 or so. Ha ha should I be talking to a shrink about this?

Amazon getting in to the content creation business

Looks like Amazon wants to become a Hollywood studio as well as selling everything under the sun to everyone in the world.

»thenextweb.com/media/2012/06/23/···duction/

Amazon Studios was calling for original comedy and children’s series projects, the company announced today that it has selected its first four projects, choosing three comedies and one children’s show.

They become the first submitted scripts to be selected for the Amazon Studios Series Development Slate, extending their option on the projects and awarding their creators $10,000 in options as a result of their intention to turn them into a TV series that will be distributed through the company’s digital video streaming service, Amazon Instant Video.

9,000 movie scripts and 1,000 series pilots have been submitted. Amazon says that there are currently 16 film projects currently underway as a result of these submissions.

But the company has switched its focus to four TV projects, they are:

The 100 Deaths of Mort Grimley – Where a man kills himself, then is forced to become an avatar of Hell, with the duty to get a special list of 100 people to commit suicide in his stead, or else be damned to spend all of eternity next to his cruel, smothering mother.

Magic Monkey Billionaire - When their magician owner dies after winning the lottery, Rabbit and Monkey are shocked to learn that he left his money to happy moron Monkey and donated evil genius Rabbit to a 2nd grade class. In each episode, Rabbit hatches a plan to steal Monkey’s billions.

Doomsday - A mockumentary about the supposed end of the world.

Buck Plaidsheep – A courageous critter from Fleecy farm, who’ll face any danger and solve any problem. Armed with a variety of vehicles, Whether it be a jet pack, rowboat, hang glider or even a jeep, He always has the best vehicle to get the job done.

Citizens United: Citizenship Destruction.

The damage to America from Citizens United ruling is becoming more obvious.

Corporations are not people. The people working for them already have the right to individually vote as US citizens.

What this ruling does allow is corporations to become power brokers between international interests and candidates. The ruling undercuts US citizenship by allowing non-US citizens abroad to directly participate in American elections "vote with dollars".

If you believe removing election fraud is important "non-citizens" voting. Then you should be very concerned about this bad Supreme Court ruling.

The funny thing is, if you looked objectively at a corporation and evaluated it psychologically as if it were a human being, it would meet the criteria for sociopathy.

If corporations can be taxed, why shouldn't they be able to donate money to political causes that are in their interests? You can't have it both ways. If they aren't treated like people they shouldn't be taxed like people. After all, "the people working for them" already pay taxes.

Free Diagramming Program

They've got a bunch of different diagramming programs that look worthwhile.

I test drove their free program by diagramming most of my home network.

As you can see, I don't have much experience with drawing programs.
That said, I felt it handled well enough. This diagram wasn't too painful to put together.

Also, their prices are reasonable. Generally $40-$100.
I've seen enough to be comfortable buying one of their software packages.

Debby's current forcast path

quote:
The GFS model, which has been our 2nd most reliable track model over the past two years (behind the ECMWF), has consistently been predicting that a trough of low pressure pushing off of the U.S. East Coast will be capable of grabbing the disturbance and accelerating it to the northeast across Florida north of Tampa Bay on Monday.
The GFS model seems to depend on a cold front grabbing the storm and aiming it eastward. When the cold front slowed down, the forecasters went w/ the westward models.

Then the storm slowed down too. It's currently drifting at 2mph.

Then the storm slowed down too. It's currently drifting at 2mph.

Looks like this storm could go just about anywhere at this point.

Looks like it's decided to do just that.
We may be looking at a week of heavy rain.

There was 2" of water in my son's bedroom today because the drains behind the house can't keep up.

My mother declared my bedroom a disaster area...

In 1984, a seventh-grader named Andy Smith wrote to then-President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, with a request:

Today my mother declared my bedroom a disaster area. I would like to request federal funds to hire a crew to clean up my room.
Reagan replied with the following letter.

Dear Andy:

I'm sorry to be so late in answering your letter but as you know I've been in China and found your letter here upon my return.

Your application for disaster relief has been duly noted but I must point out one technical problem: the authority declaring the disaster is supposed to make the request. In this case your mother.

However setting that aside I'll have to point out the larger problem of available funds. This has been a year of disasters, 539 hurricanes as of May 4th and several more since, numerous floods, forest fires, drought in Texas and a number of earthquakes. What I'm getting at is that funds are dangerously low.

May I make a suggestion? This administration, believing that government has done many things that could better be done by volunteers at the local level, has sponsored a Private Sector Initiative program, calling upon people to practice voluntarism in the solving of a number of local problems.

Your situation appears to be a natural. I'm sure your mother was fully justified in proclaiming your room a disaster. Therefore you are in an excellent position to launch another volunteer program to go along with the more than 3,000 already underway in our nation—congratulations.

Give my best regards to your mother.

Sincerely,

Ronald Reagan
