You don't have full control over your mobile OS, because two of your default applications rely heavily on technology and data provided to you by Google, your greatest enemy. I am talking, of course, about YouTube and Google Maps, which have been part of iOS since the very first iPhone.
Removing YouTube is simple enough. Google wanted full control of the YouTube app, and YouTube isn't competitive to your core business. There isn't a problem letting Google launch a YouTube app through the App Store. People can use their iPhones just fine without YouTube, anyway.
Mapping is a core function of any smartphone. Every person who has a smartphone has a need for maps. If Apple removed Maps from iOS completely, customers would start switching to other smartphones. It's just that important. So if you're Tim Cook, you have two choices. You can either A) let your enemy Google continue to power your default Maps application, or B) you can build your own Maps app and kick Google to the curb.
This is the decision that Tim Cook and his team faced when they decided to jettison Google Maps as the default mapping application for iOS.
did Apple make the right decision with Maps? It's easy to say in hindsight that Apple should have stuck with Google or waited another year to release its own Maps app. However, consider the factors that Apple had to deal with: quote: Allowing Google to control a key piece of iOS was unacceptable. If Apple had no alternative to Google Maps, the search giant could have made high demands that Apple would have had to accept. Having no default Maps application is unthinkable for a major smartphone. The longer Apple took to release its own Maps app, the more entrenched Google Maps would be. The only way to test a new map application at a large scale it to release it to users. They will be able to find holes quicker than a small team of engineers. A mapping application can only go so far without large amounts of user-generated data.
Apple wasn't going to learn anything keeping Maps locked away for another year, and there was no way it was going to let Google control its mapping technology for a minute longer than it had to. Apple's taking some serious blows for its buggy Maps app. But it made the right decision releasing it. Now it's just a question of how quickly Apple can fix iOS 6 Maps' many flaws and stem the negative press it has generated. Apple's probably going to be feeling the pain for a while. -- »www.gop.com/2012-republican-platform_home/ »www.gop.com/2012-republican-plat···onalism/

Looked at a few of the places that were reported on the news as "issues". They were promptly fixed, as I got accurate results. As stated, the program was going to improve by keeping it bottled up. While I'm happy with the arrival of turn by turn navigation, I will miss the intigrated public transportation routing feature. It has served me well on trips in unfamiliar cities while on vacation. I imagine its something they will roll into an update.
Saw a lot of iOS 6 bashing in other forums here, and I just don't see it. Sure, the Maps app has some issues, but I'm all ready making use of some of the other features like Do not disturb & such.

We spoke with Eszter Pattantyus, SVP of Maps Product Unit at TomTom. She reiterated this statement, telling us that Apple isn't relying strictly on TomTom data. Apple's maps list two dozen partners, which means it blending TomTom data with other data and its own proprietary data. Somewhere in that blending process mistakes could happen.
To underscore the idea that it's not TomTom's fault people are unhappy with Apple Maps, in its press release it says, "TomToms map data is the foundation of our own smartphone application, which consistently gets high consumer ratings in the iTunes App Store."
In other words, when we do mapping applications on our own, people like it. When Apple does it, people are unhappy. You figure out who to blame. -- »www.gop.com/2012-republican-platform_home/ »www.gop.com/2012-republican-plat···onalism/

And even if it didn't have a proprietary charger connection, I'd get only only when they can be 1) had for $100 or less used in good condition, 2) easily activated on Page Plus with only simple modifications and no flashing (like the 3G "droids" such as the Motorola Droid 1/2/3/X or HTC Incredible 1/2)
I wouldn't mind trying out an iPhone (maybe even an older iPhone such as the 3GS if the 3GS is still adequate these days), but I really don't want to give up the Page Plus coverage... is at&t's coverage much worse? Some folks have managed to sneak Verizon iPhone 4GS' onto Page Plus, but Page Plus doesn't really allow them and may deactivate them at any moment without warning.

According to the messaging group, iOS6 has a calendar bug that vaporizes Exchange meetings. They have asked all iPhone employees to postpone upgrading or disable sync.
This is one of the reasons why I'll be getting something non-Apple in the coming months. My contract is up, my iPhone 4 feels slow and creaky and while Apple seemed like it was different than others when it came to quality, I no longer feel that way. iOS e-mail has always been buggy when dealing with Exchange. Amazing since Exchange is very popular with corporations and getting your corporate e-mail and syncing your calendar should be a top priority to "get it right" for Apple. Yet again they've failed.
Time for something new. That might not be any better but all I can do is vote with my feet. If something else ends up being better, I can spread the word. If we don't immediately pass secret laws to monitor and restrict the activities of Americans, our children (and banks) will suffer grievous emotions damage from terrorist pedophiles . . . Because Muslims.
said by CompWorld :U.S. banks on high alert against cyberattacks Hackers engaging in wire fraud by gaining access to bank networks, FS-ISAC says
The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) has put U.S. banks on high alert against cyberattackers seeking to steal employee network login credentials to conduct extensive wire transfer fraud.
The FBI has noticed a new trend where cyber criminals use stolen employee credentials to wire transfer hundreds of thousands of dollars from U.S. customer accounts to overseas banks, the FS-ISAC noted.
"The wire transfer amounts have varied between $400,000 and $900,000, and, in at least one case, the actor(s) raised the wire transfer limit on the customer's account to allow for a larger transfer," the alert said.
The FS-ISAC noted that it has moved it cyberthreat level from 'elevated' to 'high' as a result of the activity.
The FS-IACS's warning comes the same week that two large U.S. banks -- Bank of America (BofA)and J.P. Morgan Chase --suffered unexplained network disruptions.
A group, calling itself the "Cyber fighters of Izz ad-din Al qassam" on Tuesday warned of an attack against BofA and the New York Stock Exchange. In a PasteBin message, the hitherto unknown group said it was targeting the two organizations in retaliation for a controversial anti-Islam movie that has roiled much of the Middle East for the past several days.
According to the information-sharing center, in some cases, cyber attackers managed to steal login credentials from multiple bank employees and systems administrators.
The attackers then circumvented the authentication mechanisms the banks put in place to detect and deter fraudulent wire transfers. "This allowed the intruders to handle all aspects of a wire transaction, including the approval."
Before attempting to initiate a fraudulent wire transfer, the intruders would obtain customer account transaction histories, read-up on the proper use of U.S. payment systems and learn or modify bank-specific wire transfer settings. These are well thought out operations done by teams of people with thorough inside knowledge of the of the networks they're infiltrating.
The ObamaAdministration+Congress's response to this CRISIS will be to pass more legislation to monitor us.
These new laws will be strongly championed by the same big-money CyberSec donors that wrote them. -- Campaign contributions influence laws through a process called bribery.

Actually not true. All the crooks have to do is make sure to use good ol' MICROSWIFT software, with or without anti-virus; you know the stuff with the pictures of Billy Boy and Baldy on the box! Everything falls into place almost immediately after that. Meanwhile, they keep their billions (88+ for Billy Boy) someplace where nobody can get at them, while ten-thousand well-paid shills keep babbling away about MICROSWIFT to keep the gold coming in. You might as well throw your hard-earned money in the street!
It should not happen with Apple, but sometimes does since they got blinded by dollar-signs lately; it almost never happens with Linux.
So, if five percent of the machines out there are almost totally impervious to theft, and the others not, isn't the solution obvious?

cline3621Mr. Yuk is MEAN Mr. Yuk is GREENPremium join:2006-06-14 Clarksville, TN | 1st Year Anniversary of new job. Hi everyone. The 22nd of September is one year to the day of me finding a new job and doing my initial interview, with the company I now work for. I personally want to thank the following for their well wishes and kind words when I mentioned on here I found another job: SimbaTLK1, Stevennb, pnh102, Backfeed, ThrowDemsOut, N3OGH, Nfixit2004,and Workablob.
I've done some reflection on the last year. The company I work for is Script Pro, a pharmacy automation company. I love my job. Its some electronics, mechanical engineering, IT, and alot of traveling. I like the travel part namely because I'm single and have no children. I also get to go places I've never been, and get paid to do so. I'm hoping some pharmacist breaks their SP200 at the Landstuhl dispensary. I would love to visit Germany again, where I grew up, although it was called 'West Germany' at that time.
My girlfriend doesn't like it too much, but I do get plenty of time off between rotations. I work 9 days on, 5 days off.
So far with this job just for the 2012 calendar year, I have made more money than I ever have in any of the years in the last decade! Heh, that's really saying something. I knew that IT degree would eventually pay off for me. I'm glad I'm patient. I graduated with my IT degree in 2003.
It's nice to have a job where managers don't constantly lie to your face, like the ones I had to deal with at Dish Network for more than 8 years. (Glassdoor.com uses employees of companies to rate how good the company is to work for. Dish Network is rated the worst!)
Thanks to this new job with Script Pro, I am also nearly debt free. In 2001 I was just starting college again for my IT degree. I was working a dead end job. I really didn't think of the future too much because I was 24-25. Financially I was an idiot. Pay-day loans, over and misuse of credit cards, then fix it with a 'debt consolidation' loan, then start the process over again. I finally started to wise up around age 29-30. As of right now counting the last 5 years, the $27,000 in student loans have been paid off. My constantly refinanced truck I bought in 2003 that I couldn't afford and shouldn't have bought, has been paid off for about 5 years now, all the debt consolidation loans I had, have been paid off, and just last night, I made a payment on my credit card. This time last year, I owed the people at Regions Bank about $22,000 in total credit card debt. I will make a final payment to Regions Bank in the amount of $2,137.56 to give my 1 (and only!) credit card a $0 balance on October 6, 2012.
I would say after finally getting my head and ass wired together financially, not making bad financial decisions, and living within my means, (U.S. Government, ARE YOU LISTENING!) and especially having my new job that is AWESOME, things are starting to look really good for me in the future.

1) Is this form of communication different than calling folks on a cell phone and getting "bad advice" from one of them? 2) Should authorities have the ability to force Facebook to shut down his account? 3) Does Facebook have any obligation to take action? 4) Are the Facebook responses by others admissible when the suspect or they are prosecuted. | An argument in favor of throttling I was at the Big E (Massachusetts State Fair) and it was pretty crowded (I would guess at least 20,000 people there) and I wanted to get a weather report on my Verizon iPhone 4. The network was so overloaded that I could not get a connection or it was very slow. People were clogging it with their streaming video, YouTube uploads, VoIP connections, etc. With the crowds of a state fair, there is some justification in favor of throttling (such as blocking VoIP programs and requiring that voice calls be placed on the cellular end as they have network resources dedicated for voice calls) and save the data channels for legitimate web traffic (such as weather reports, twitterbook tweets/status updates, and various apps on smartphones). They should also block access to data intensive apps like streaming video and music.
If I encountered a scenario that justifies throttling, it's state fairs where there are tens of thousands of devices on the one or two cell towers surrounding the fairgrounds.
All I was trying to do was look up weather reports as there was some bad weather in the area.
The reason for network management is that network pipes have limited resources and you can only feed so much traffic through that pipe.

The announcement, made by a government deputy minister on Sunday, came as state television announced Google Inc's search engine and its email service would be blocked "within a few hours".

You could start by using your oppressively corrupt prison staff to coerce the inmates into performing labor for prison profit.
The profit could be funneled through lobbyists and legislative campaign contributions to criminalize activities like copyright infringement and repeated traffic infractions.
New prisoners would mean additional government $$$. And people convicted under the new laws would mean a healthier labor force than the meth heads you started off with.
As the money poured in you could buy bigger/better laws. It could become a criminal offense to criticize public officials or submit FOI requests about the ties between Corrections Inc. and the Justice Dept.
Your corrections empire would spread nationwide until every legislator in the country owed their election to you.
