My weekend was made by...

...certain (non-) events in Washington D.C. today.

...And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Interesting ?

My interesting bits from last week: I discovered you are not supposed to actually wash a cordless phone in the washing machine !! Note to self: check pockets or question why trousers are heavier than usual before putting them in the machine.

Turned 65 this past week, too. Still waiting for the advantages of being Older Than Dirt !!

"I don't want a bath !"
My little snow Bengal is a "big" boy -- 14 days old today. His latest antics today are to try to CHEW (not suck - chew) the side of my finger. He's licked my face a couple of times and has licked his front paws.

Pic is him yelling, "Not another bath ...!"

Gonna have a bit of fun playing around with this gadget this weekend. It's simply incredible what this little computer can potentially accomplish.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has played non-stop at some movie theaters since 1975.
That's 42 years! Why haven't you seen it?!

RIP Fluorescent Ballast

Went to wash my work uniform this week and noticed that one of the fluorescent light fixtures I installed back in 2010 was out. Tried relamping it with new tubes, still dead. So I replaced it with a brand new LED fixture from Home Depot.

»m.homedepot.com/p/Lithon ··· 00263608

Here is the final result.

As for the basement itself when we moved in it had two Edison style A19 fixtures but you couldn't see worth diddly down there so I went to Lowe's and picked up some Romex and some T12 fluorescent fixtures and installed them. One of them has been converted to T8 already (ballast failure) but I may convert all three fixtures (one has already been done today) to LED with the high utility rates here.

Those old magnetic ballasts lasted forever. We had a fluorescent light in the bathroom in my childhood home that we lived in for 14 years I think we relamped it 2-3 times and never had to replace a starter or ballast.

Finally the snows melting and i can...

Go metal detecting (actually coin shooting.)

I recently purchased a Garrett AT Pro metal detector (and still have my trusty Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202.) And yes I've seen the British comedy - Detectorists.*

* which is pretty much spot on regarding club meetings and "my detector is more expensive than yours so that means I'll find nicer things."
