What happend to tag clouds?

Before "web 2.0" sites used to order things, very boringly, by descending popularity.

"Web 2.0" ushered in "tag clouds", wikipedia definition, which look something like this:

How very rich and important the data looks when displayed that way! These web 2.0 guys must really be onto something.

Today I noticed that blogger.google.com offers automatic, and attractive, "label clouds". Something about it seemed very .. usable .. and very .. familiar. What could it be?

Have we just come full circle?

Why did you have to write a blog entry about Web 2.0 ? Don't you know that the whole Web 2.0 cabal is just that, a bunch of blog entries and no real substance....
