"In terms of hurricane of activity, this is the outside of the bell curve," says Fred Gadomski, a meteorologist at Penn State University. "We are experiencing something that's relatively uncommon."
But only relatively. When it comes to this level of activity and the intensity of the storms, the nation's foremost hurricane expert says, get used to it. Currents are steering the storms to the same place.
