InstallAnywhere.NET offers Windows Installer authoring tool for enterprises, ISVs

Zero G Software today announced immediate availability of its new InstallAnywhere.NET Windows Installer authoring tool. Based on Microsoft's .NET Framework and Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI), InstallAnywhere.NET produces Windows Installer setups, and is intended to let enterprise IT managers, and Windows ISVs, deliver and install advanced enterprise-class Windows and .NET applications.
InstallAnywhere.NET can be used with Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), or deployment solutions like Tivoli or Novell ZenWorks, HP OpenView, Altiris, etc., according to Zero G. InstallAnywhere.NET can also be used for installing Windows server applications; for example, it supports installing IIS virtual folders, and installing and controlling Windows services, and executing SQL statements. According to Zero G, traditional Windows installation tools like InstallShield may pose challenges to enterprise developers: these tools do not easily integrate with systems management products such as Microsoft SMS; traditional tools require mastering the tool's proprietary scripting language, and the tools don't allow access to Windows Installer and its advanced features.
