| | | | Re: Woo hoo I tried that trick. I wanted to move my unlimited, grandfathered Alltel aircard account over to LTE but no dice. That was when we didn't have landline access at home and were dependent on VZW for our internet access.
I have a 1st Gen iPad wifi only, but we got our daughter the iPad2 as a graduation gift last summer. The dual cameras and the retina display (not to mention a faster processor) would be lovely, but I don't know if the cost is worth the upgrade.

Over on the various Apple forums the flame wars are in progress. Between what they call Apple fan-boys, and the anti-Apple trolls. iPad 3 is a holy gift from St Jobs, and God in heaven, or Apple is garbage, trash, demons from hell, etc, etc, etc bla-bla-bla. Sometimes I think there should be a video game so the two factions can duke it out. Notice above I said iPod Touch 4G, on the Apple forums if I said Touch 4G, or 4G, or heaven forbid the Apple Touch I would get stoned. -- I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man's reasoning powers are not above the monkey's. - Mark Twain in Eruption

iPad 3, or iPhone 4s, or the latest tablet from Samsung are the evolution of existing technology. When the first iPads or iPhones came out, they were truly innovative products that no one had ever seen before.
The iPad 3 is just the latest version of something everyone has all ready seen.
Besides, before it comes out, we pretty much know what to expect. The details always leak out. It's like watching the Super Bowl on a DVR. You all ready know the outcome, so why get all excited over it?

| Anything Useful? All that's neat and all, but is there anything to add new functionality to the device? I'd like to think that some manufacturer will bridge the gap of tablets that will allow them to be used as virtual note pads...but it seems as though any use of a stylus instantly dooms the hardware or something.
And before someone mentions it, yes, I know there are styli for the iPad out now. However, the iPad hasn't the hardware required to differentiate between stylus and a hand. Writing with these is very unnatural (you have to keep your hand off the screen), and so it makes for a very poor equivalent of digital notes.
When someone makes a device as light as an iPad, yet has the capacity to be used like paper & sync with services like OneNote, then the educational field will rejoice and sing praises. Until then, something like HP's TouchSmart laptop series (which got canned, do you not like money HP?) is about as close as we're going to get.

| Right on Schedule... March is always iPad time so I'm not surprised. Got my awesome iPad 2 in late March last year...and my old iPad 1 is still running nicely too.
iPad 3 will be a game-changer, and the naysayers (who, not surprisingly, happen to be fAndroids for the most part) will spend the rest of 2012 playing catch-up as usual. Apple will break all iPad 2 sales records quarter after quarter. Stock heading for $600.

jmn1207Premium join:2000-07-19 Ashburn, VA | What About Next Year? I'm curious to know what will be left out...er...added to next year's iteration?
Right now there are very few apps that only work on the iPad 2. Is it already time to push first generation owners toward a new tier? It seems like I just got the iPad. I can't believe it has been 2 years already. I wonder if the iPad 3 will be the device that finally, truly fractures the wonderful App store into separate segments, or will developers be forced to create apps that work on older variations along with the faster, gussied up visuals of the new version?
What I'd really like to see is the latest iOS mail client with the ability to delete "ALL" within a folder other than the Trash folder. It's annoying having to select Edit and then touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch touch every single email I want to move or delete from a folder. I've been complaining about this annoyance from the beginning, along with many others, so perhaps a hardware change will finally correct this, since apparently it is proving to be too difficult for Apple to remedy with a software update.

If you have to worry about paying rent, food, and the electric bill, then you shouldn't be in line for a luxury toy like the iPad3... I agree. But just because you can't afford it doesn't make everyone else who can "evil" or stupid. I'm so sick of this mentality that being well off is somehow wrong. I say if you made it big, then good for you! Quit bitching and moaning about how others can sink $700 on a "toy" and get your ass moving... that welfare line isn't getting any shorter.
