My first real attempts for portrait shots...At her parents house.

It's good, but it needs a little work :).

First, the background is OK,but I would have shot it a bit more open to blur it more since it's not really fall colors (that would look really nice if it were).

Second, the shadow is a bit strong on her face, this is a good time to use a reflector or light fill flash to lighten up her face.

Finally, dead center doesn't work too well for this one (some portraits it does, some not so much, this is a not so much). I would have had her more to the right of the frame and try to get more of a rule of thirds composition OR fill the frame more with her and the lovely Weimaraner.

So, good effort all in all, just needs a bit of tweaking but hey, that's what learning is all about :).
