 | The light is gorgeous. The water looks like a soft skating rink or radiant silk. hey mods · » Thursday December 16th, @04:53PM

 | I like it, but you've got a really odd depth-of-field thing going with it that's strikes somewhat of an off note, at least to me. hey mods · » Friday December 17th, @11:26AM

 | The odd/blurred water look is due to the long (32s) exposure. It was quite intentional. Used a B+W 10 stop ND filter to get the long exposure in the middle of the day. There is very little photoshop here, just a raw conversion, crop & cloned out a few buoys. Thanks for looking ;) hey mods · » Friday December 17th, @11:51AM

 | Just curious. Most of the blurred water shots don't need anything like 32 seconds. What else were you looking for? I also wonder what your camera sensor makes of a seemingly photon by photon exposure? hey mods · » Friday December 17th, @07:51PM

 | This appeals to me - I guess its the contrast of the soft (blurred) water and clouds with the sharper detail of the rocks. hey mods · » Friday December 17th, @08:52PM

 | I do like the overall effect, but something just hit me. How did you keep the clouds from being totally blurred over a 32 second exposure? I suppose the wind speed must have been nominal? Not that they take away from the image. Just a technical question. I do like the blurred effect. We've so much equipment to explore that one often forgets it's there. Maybe in transition from film to digital we've lost a lot of the equipment as we're taking special effects to post capture processing. Thank you for giving me some great ideas. hey mods · » Saturday December 18th, @09:15AM

 | I was actually hoping for a bit more blurring of the clouds, but the wind just wasn't there.. with the 10 stop filter and f/22, 32 seconds was the longest shutter speed I could get with so much light (ISO 125 was a mistake, I thought I was at 100).
For those that have really dark ND filters, live view makes this soooo much easier. Without live view, I would have to compose/focus without the filter, then screw it on.. The image through the viewfinder is totally black with the filter on. With live view, and exposure simulation enabled, you can easily compose and focus using the LCD screen without having to remove the filter.hey mods · » Saturday December 18th, @10:45AM

 | Nicely done. I think it came out very well. The clouds and water add an element of interest to a good looking lighthouse photo. hey mods · » Tuesday March 1st, @08:09PM
