My father-in-law, Bill Walsh, was buried yesterday at Arlington National Cemetery. He was a good father, friend, and soldier. May he rest in peace.

Our condolences to your family and thanks for his service.

Did you get to attend the ceremony? My cousin, a WWII Navy nurse, is buried there. We attended her services. The people at Arlington are absolutely wonderful, and the whole process and ceremonial service is unmatched by anything I've ever seen.

Found the obit for those interested;

MAJ. William W. Walsh, 84, retired U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, stepped into eternity peacefully, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 after a valiant fight with the kind of things that just make our bodies quit on us when we get on in years. He is survived by his wife, Gertraud, daughters Doris Walsh, Pam Jones, Pinkie Walsh, and son Tim Walsh. He is predeceased by daughter, Patty Walsh. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on January 19, 2011 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Homes for Our Troops at www.homesforourtroops.org.

Egeezer, yes we did attend. It was very good and the Marines were sharp and well orchestrated. Bill was a good friend of mine and he will be missed. Thanks for posting the obit.

My condolences to you and yours.

I like that phrase, "stepped into eternity".

The chaplain said that there are over 300,000 buried in Arlington.
