| When built in 1882, Kinzua Viaduct was the highest railroad bridge in the world. On Monday, July 21, 2003, at approximately 3:15 p.m., an F1 tornado struck the side of Kinzua Viaduct. | PENTAX K10D 18mm 1/20th F9.5 ISO200

 | The detail you've captured really tells the tale. Age and history is no surety of life, no matter how long. Considering the well maintained area in which the fallen portions lie, my presumption is this is an old shot. Or, as a historical piece, is the area still maintained? hey mods · » Wednesday June 17th, @02:58PM

 | Very nice. If the exif data is any indication, this image was take 3 days ago. I like the fact they have made the end of it a viewing platform. hey mods · » Friday June 19th, @03:32PM

 | Yes, EXIF is correct. This has been a Pennsylvania State Park for as long as I can remember. We used to be able to walk the bridge across the valley and hike one of a couple trails back. The new visitors center is under construction and behind schedule (my tax dollars at slow work). A State Park photographer (marketing guy) I met there hoped that construction would be complete by the time the leaves turn (I think hes very optimisticmaybe by the time they turn in 2016).
Its a beautiful place and only about 40 minutes from home. »visitanf.com/kinzua-stat ··· ky-walk/hey mods · » Friday June 19th, @07:14PM
