i had to use flash for this shot and put it right up the poor cat's face since this camera has only 3x optical zoom

hope my kitten does not get blind bcoz of this....

There is a chance that an animal goes blind because of a close flash. It's written in the manual. Please don't repeat that.
However, I can assure you this time the cat is safe. The flash would have turned the cat's eyes white if it was really pointed to them.
Beautiful cat by the way.

You can do close-ups without flash. I never use flash on my cat.
