Rainy day photos with high ISO and a flash are the best I could do today. The new feeder is working out well so I am looking forward to some nice opportunities. I have lots of subjects, now I just need the sun.

Seeing these don't help my supressed urge to buy SLR. You had to go and post these great shots now. :(

Don't mind me, but what a great raining day activity. But certainly nothing gloomy about these. Awsome shots!!!

Nice shots. I bought a bird feeder few weeks back. But havent paid much attention to it. The birds have emptied it twice. One of these days I will have to pay attention and see if can get some shots.

These shots are fantastic. It makes me want to put out a bird feeder.

Excellent shots. The one bird feeder I have that is used a lot is now almost permanently in shade so I need to move it. I have another they hardly ever touch...go figure.

I now have three feeders. One cheap that started the whole thing ($2.00 plastic one), One I rescued from the trash (Very nice expensive one that looked like it was buried for a few years, it cleaned up like new) and one cheap from ebay. I am using thistle (AKA Niger seed) which is only eaten by finches in the new one close to the door. The feeder is not made for thistle (small slit for the small seed) but has a cup in the hole that keeps the seeds from spilling regardless of size. The other two I am using sunflower seeds only which are messy kill the grass and attract everything. Those two are only a couple feet apart so big birds and little once can both take turns.
Last year I bought "The birds of North America" which makes it more fun.

Cheap one and the other birds who visit it.

The middle bird is a mourning dove which has a haunting call and also makes noise when it takes off. It was sitting on the rock for fifteen minutes before I saw it.

I had one squirrel that was going to ruin the party and I set a trap so I could try and relocate him. Wouldn't you know I got a bird instead. I had purposely put hte opening into the brush and figured the birds would find food easier elsewhere.
THis is an Eastern Towhee and it is a brushfeeder (that;s where it was when it walked into the trap) I never remeber seeing one and probably would have missed this one instead.
BTW, I approached slowly wiht a big towel infront of me and placed it over the cage. I was able to open it and let it out without much of a fuss.
