Two quick comments...

If you could have gotten down lower and gotten a better angle on the eye, it may have been a cooler shot.

Also, it looks a bit, for lack of a better word, digital, especially the sand along the bottom heading towards the right side of the image. Is this an aggressive crop? If not, it may be oversharpened.

Either way, I'd hate to see him on my deck....
