I think you might be better off going into a tighter crop, maybe chop the leg's up to the stomach area and the right elbow, kinda force the viewer into looking right at the subjects face. Did you shoot this around town?

 | Thanks Guys! He was actually playing for my kids. Bobby gave him a tip and informed him that he just got a violin and was going to start taking lessons.  | The first shot is superb, although I'm not a big fan of the effect you used and I think I agree about the legs. Also, the white reflection above his head is a little of a distraction. I'd suggest cloning that out. The first color image tells the story. The joy of the musician jumps off the image and the curiosity of the children can be seen clearly.
