My day job:

I run internal training, create documents, and serve as webmaster for the proposal writing department of one of the top 3 US networking companies.

Prior to this I was an atomic spectroscopist for 6 years -- worked as a chemist and service person for a company that made inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometers. Say that 3 times fast, I dare ya'.

I work in the industry:

My exposure is on the hardware side. I live networking hardware every day. Used to work directly w/ some DSL equipment. Now, just have many friends making DSLAMs for various companies, while I stick to Enterprise LAN & WAN gear.

Why did I join?:

My girlfriend has a Ph.D. in Solar Physics. The more data we crunch off-line, the more computer and other resources are left free for other science.
