He picked his words wisely. It’s easy to achieve functionality but performance is another thing.

No big surprise there, especially since AT&T's HQ is in Texas. I wonder how much they paid her.

They didn't have to pay her anything more than the usual amount. They merely threatened to shift their bribes to whomever might run against her in the next election. With the disarray in the GOP, the next round of primaries will likely be hotly contested, so the good senator needs to be careful that money doesn't flow to a potential opponent.

But I doubt this amendment will pass. These Republicans are just pandering to their base to show them that they can be more "conservative" (ie: pro-corporate) than the Democrats. It's a chest-thumping exercise. If they don't do it, they risk opening themselves up to a primary challenge down the road. This way, win or lose, they can claim that they were there to try and derail net neutrality.

Republican 1: "Uh-oh, the FCC is actually doing something good for once . . . We better put a stop to that."

Republican 2: "Yeah, then we can use it as an example of how the government is ineffectual."

Comcast has had DOCSIS 3 here for awhile...I actually reported on it about a month ago when it was released. Even tipped Karl on it multiple times, but my comments never seemed to be heard :/
