Re: Bring on 5G to rival Cable/Fiber internet

said by Anon4a6eb :

Of course not because the tech isn't there yet. IF and that's IF 5G can bring 50X-100X the capacity it claims it can then it sure can be a replacement in many areas.

Again, Just because it COULD be does not mean it Will be. Unless your at the helm of said company (Wireless ISP) you can make no guarantees. I like your optimism but I tend to side more with reality.

T-Mo does have newer radios than that of Verizon or att, so that being said they might not need 5g to achieve highspeeds at the moment at least for a few years.

Even with 4X4 MIMO with 5xCA( assuming they had 5 20 MHz blocks to use) Max speed would be 1.5 Gbps. And really that's more about capacity than speed. It's not about providing 1 device with 1.5 Gbps it means they could provide 100 with 15 Mbps simultaniously

Re: Gald I dont live in a AT&T or verizon area

Leave it to AT&T and Verizon they will Implement low data caps and high prices making it useless.

Fixed Wireless has been a thing for 20 years

People have been doing fixed wireless for 20 years. Sometimes they're the only option in a given area, sometimes they're the only congestion-free option in a suburban area.

Pay more attention to the independents.

Are you on a wired broadband site saying no one wants wired broadband? If not, I legit have no idea what you're trying to say here.

Re: Where is the VZW fixed wireless deployment in Boston?

Vaporware sounds more like it.

Sounds like a pig in a poke...

Given AT&T and Verizon's advocacy for throttling competitive content and instituting data caps, I don't see much in their record that would provide true internet service with no caps or no selective reduction of speeds to the customer.
