Philadelphia new gigabit service at a promotion of $80?

Is that $80 per month with or without the 3 year contract?

Thats a joke 35 upload. That is sorta like the Rodney Dangerfield of gigabit.

Also the pricing is way out of control. I pay for 2 play (real gigabit) for $100 (for 2 years btw no contract).

Sounds like a product looking to find a customer. I remember early on this ran Metro-E and they had wacky requirements. Being obvious to actually even be able to take advantage of this you would have to spend thousands on 10 gig switching equipment or minimally to bond to distribution gig switches, and maybe drop a few k. I scratch my head as to why a residential user would want this, other than the inadequate gig offering.

I am assuming w/ LTC, my point while jesting on 35 UL means you are REALLY clamping the user on cloud services, sharing media, DR, or anything really useful that you can do with a gig connection that you can't with a 100/20 or the like.

Of course they will suck in unsuspecting folks to long term contracts and when they figure out it takes days or weeks to upload their drive to crashplan or the like, it will be too late.

GigPro is still essentially MetroE service with all of the same requirements.

$105 for gigabit internet...

Probably won't make it down to our area anytime soon when they're easily charging $129.95 a month for 105/20 stand alone service.

Shame on Comcast

There you go already pulling a Verizon bait, switch and unlike the masses I'm not buying it hook, line and sinker. If anything, I'm going to the garage to sharpen my hedge clippers to cut our $250 a month Comcast noose around our necks.

Comcastic finally releases its ultrasecret Docis 3.1 weapon and its a dud!

Really Comcastic does it again by misinforming potential Comcastic customers; and then locking them into three year "Comcastic" contracts; while shortchanging potential "Comcastic" with a pitifully woefully inadequate pathetic 35Mbps upload; yes the glory days of "Comcastic" are officially over indeed; Comcastic is now playing second fiddle to Verizon Fios Gigabit Connection broadband internet service; that has absolutely no restriction and no contractual obligations whatsoever; let's put it this way guys I would much rather lock myself into a five year contract at $70 monthly with Verizon Fios Gigabit Connection than even locking myself into a three year contract with "Comcastic" at a much higher contract monthly price-what a pathetic "Comcastic" joke; Comcastic is calling every two weeks like clockwork and I have already told them more than once I am to be put on the "Do Not Call List"; yet they keep calling-I have actually submitted a formal "Do Not Call Registry List" written complaint on their website; since "Comcastic" is violating a law with a $10,000 fine per occurance-what a bunch of Comcastic moron's and idiot's indeed!!

NO FIOS, screwed?

Verizon screwed Pennsylvania with lack of deployment of FIOS, and yet want to deploy fiber optic back-haul for cellular! This is exactly what a dysfunctional marketplace looks like!

I have (uncapped) 3 Mbps DSL and I could download 1 TB/month if I ran it 24/7.

Re: whats the point?

No you can't. 3mbit 24/7/30 is Around 700 gig a month. More like 650 when you add in PPPoE overhead
