You know, it would be easier ...To bribe enough politicians to pass a law where our eye-lids are surgically removed and all bedroom ceilings containing flat-panel displays for the 24x7 broadcast of 100% commercials.
Oh yeah, they still wouldn't find that sufficient to sell, sell, sell! |

Actually Time Warner owns roadrunner, but the intent of the Article seems to be that AOL is looking to aquire it to expand the AOL product, not as a Time Warner aquisition. AOL and Time Warner cable try to keep the products seperate. I'm a roadrunner user though. |

greati realize it may be a little late to tell it like it is, but this would be more than just a monopoly. how can it be legal to have this much control over a market? i'm mad enough that aol was allowed to buy tw but now they want to basically run the rest of the industry further into the ground? when will their seemingly endless supply of money finally run out and they be forced close shop? i guess the real question now is how many more companies can they ruin before that day. |

Can you imagine the hordes of OOL users whining that their speeds have finally been brought down to reasonable levels? |

Who's to decide what "reasonable" levels are? Guess you are just jealous. |

Debt?Isn't AOL Time Warner selling all the Atlanta teams to make up some 20 billion plus in debt?
And they want to spend more?
It's time the FCC put a stop to the constant blank check approvals of these acquisitions. |

Re: greatI really hope they are not serious. I love my Adelphia cable... it's fast and quick. I have no complaints... it's all that Adelphia actually advertizes that it is.
I know AOL will be aweful. I will find something else if AOL takes over. |

Re: Debt?Doubt (and pray) the FCC would allow AOL/TW to pick up cablevision. Having the whole Metro area under one company bad idea.
But if they do I hope they will still call it cablevision and leave our speed be. |
|
| |
Change May Be GoodHere in the AV, Adelphia had hijacked our area with them being the only cable option. Been waiting for 3 years for PowerLink service and nothing. In fact, I was told that the upgrade process hasn't even began yet:( I'd personally like to see TW here instead:) |
|
| |
I take it Adelphia is the minority cabel provider in your region. How many towns do they have? Less than 5 I bet. You'd be better off if there was only 1 cable company nationwide that owned everything. You'd have cable modems faster, and you'd pay lower rates. |

i doubt it could be worse than adelphia is nowI wouldn't mind (assuming the good techs like the ones who post here didn't get screwed in the deal). I can't imagine anyone being worse than adelphia. I mean, I can understand over selling a network because you're immoral and greedy and liars, but not doing anything about it for at least 8 months is absurd. At least it would give me someone new to hate. |

Maybe it won't be THAT bad...You never know, if AOL does acquire Cablevision maybe they won't even touch our speeds, they could toss that stupid upstream cap that we seem to get every so often and then we can really utilize our service. it may be a better thing...

Re: Bah~!Jealous of OOL? (used to be) but with the news servers issues, email issues, upload cap issue, price increases. . . i seriously doubt AOL could make them much worse other than requiring you to install their buggy bloated client software. oh yeah, you get to be routed through AOL's network. that'll make you gamers happy. NOT! |

Surprise! the first thing they're going to do is cut speeds in order to cut costs. but the bright side is their news servers probably are better than OOL's is currently although you probably wont be able to access them with a normal newsreader program. |

Hell noI will not be happy if this happens. |

What makes you think just because AOL acquires cablevision that you are going to get YES on your cable system? IMHO if so they should make it a premium channel so those that want it pay for it and those that dont arent subsidizing those that are enjoying it. |
