Re: What is the address?Ok mr anonymous. I did that along time ago.
My point was,
if I ping the domain name, the DNS servers around the world would have giving me the ip address. Try ping yahoo.com It will give you the domain name and the ip it resolves to. pinging defacers-challenge.com does not. So how I see it, that web site was never on the net, because the DNS servers dont have it listed. |

Apparently you don't understand the concept of REMOVED and how the fact that it was removed has propogated to DNS servers across theweb.

I do understand, it was taken off line on wednesday and I have never seen DNS servers work that quick. When there was a change to our domain name, it took 48 hours for the changed to take effect across the united states. People where not able to access us for that time period. We had to redirect them to our alt site. If they where able to remove it that quickly I am shocked. Anyways there is no reason to contuine this. I was just making a comment from how I seen it work. |

One never knows, but giving the FBI that much credit is a real reach, IMO. |

Let's see...OpenBSD firewall up to date and active... check. Apache patched and current... check. Apache running as non-root user... check. OpenBSD in use on web server and up to date... check. PHP patched... check. Passwords stronger than hell... check. Bring it on. "Seriously..." I'm not all the worried. They only sites targetted are going to be big, like Google, Yahoo and the likes. |

Re: What is the address? It is possible to have the DNS change that quickly. You just set the cached records to expire more quickly and then yank the zone. |

Re: Bad SuggestionI dont think anything will happen (FBI wise) since the sites that will get exploited/hacked/cracked arent anything important.. (unlike bank, gov, popular online stores ect..) Plus the world has advanced warning to patch and update software (so who would really be to blame?)...
hehe Maybe the RIAA site will get vandalised again!! and give us all a good laugh.. lol |

Re: fedsFew people understand the difference between Hackers & Crackers -Any wonder the whole topic is mis understood by many and fewer points made toward resolution; of course plle understand SPAM -It's a meat product {well, so the latest court contest thinks}!
Be CoOl, if there where a whole lot more hackers out there; perhaps plle don't UNDERSTAND how security patches are developed. Wish appropriate terminology could be used, when the topic is about Crackers
I'm sure the Feds are getting smarter, since they use old crackers & new Hackers -Nothing like recruiting the plle that know the game. |

LOL, I thought that the idea of this contest was to deface 6000 sites in 6 hours ... as in ... lots of them but not necessarily famous ones... Don't you think that it's far easier to hack some small, insignificant sites than any of the big ones? |

If you look around the world, you are likely to find 6000 major internet sites. And many of the larger sites have multiple sites... For example, I know the BBC runs many servers and many sites under different subdomains. Within the BBC domain along, you could probably get 20-50 sites. The you have sites like Yahoo! and others with multiple sites. Smaller sites may get targetted, but... Many smaller sites have tighter security. Of course you do have those sites that just run an unpatched version of IIS4.0 running on NTS4.0 with Service Pack 2 still running it. |
