4Mbps

Gee, I can't even get a reliable 3Mbps and 256Kbps up.

Maybe Comcast should just advertise 10Mbps and not deliver

Huh?

So, will I have to call up and request this new speed? Will they automatically hit me with it and the higher bill?

Not sure

Well on one hand I would like more upload, but on the other is it worth $10 a month? Now if it was 512 up, I wouldn't even have to think about it, but 384? I'm not so sure.

If you call up and request the new speed you would be automatically hit with the higher bill, yes.

Re: 4Mbps

What exactly is the "Home Networking" feature?

I pay $43 for 3000/256, but I don't remember anything about it being a Home Networking plan.

I couldn't agree more. They can't even deliver 3/.256 consistently.

I'd go with dsl if I didn't have to have a landline as well..

The Home Netoworking Option is when they come out to your house and Professinal hookup more than one computer to a internal network. its a big waste of money to me. When I have the gear and can do it myself.

Comcast HN package.

This is nothing new.The Comcast HN package has been around for along time. But in many areas they have had problems with upload speeds with their wireless modem/router gateway.

So they have decided to give the service with the regular modem, starting in some areas on the first of July.I don't know what areas they are right now but Comcast will be coming out with that word very soon.

I have put the prices in the thread.
»comcast will allow hn speeds with a standard modem

That's what they are saying that you can do now and just not pay to have them do it for you.

Comcast is ROCK solid

I don't know why some people are saying they can't even deliver a 3000/256 connection because they can and do. I consistently get 3200/240 (around there) on the speed tests.

Bah! I'm getting DSL anyways.

Actually, my wife and I are switching from Comcast back to SBC/Yahoo! DSL.

The ONLY reason we went with Comcast before was that our new house didn't have DSL available.

Shortly after the strike ended DSL became available. Boy, am I glad the strike didn't drag on for months.

MORE SPEED

I would like to know when Comcast is going to annouce this. I just called them to see if I could upgrade my current service to the Home Networking package... I was informed it wasn't available without their hardware.

He also got kind of snooty when I told him this was supposed to be released in July... he played stupid if he knew anything.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Re: 4Mbps

i have pretty consistent speeds close to 3000/256. Actually usually closer to 3200/243. When I had aDSL I only got 1100/102 when advertised was 1500/128.

Ditto... my 3000/256 speeds are very consistant. I generally average 3200/236. I have been as high as 3400/248 but haven't seen that in a while.

Re: 4Mbps

the home networking refers to the router/modem (gateway) to connect more then one computer in the house. its different from the regular residential service where we only hook the one pc.

I'm in LA, and every evening the network goes down the drain. Speeds are rotten during standard evening hours. If I hop on later at night or early morning on a weekend, the speeds are normal / fine.

Re: 4Mbps

Although I think its awesome that you're doing that, $65/month is too much in my book for 1.5/.4. If the prices were the same as the ones requiring a land line, then I'd seriously consider it.

At that price its cheaper for me to get a landline and get the cheapest metered service, which typically amounts to ~$15/month after taxes.

Is the $100 install as well as $100 modem required??
