ExpectedI expected Sony to delay the release until November. If you think about it Sony has not said really ANYTHING up until now about the PS3. I have no problem with this delay but Sony better damn well get this thing out by November because they cant afford to miss yet another holiday season.
Also Sony has still not issued an OFFICIAL price point.
I'm thinking about getting a PS3 but recently Sony has been on my crap list with the following.
Root Kit Submitting fake reviews for Sony Pictures Movies Intrusive DRM Lies about Root Kits, PS3, etc. |

Sony Music can die for all I care. I can live without a PS3 even if it means missing out on Silent Hill 5. |

DRM probably at the heart of the delayGiven the black eye Sony got over it's music subsidiary's run in with Digital Rights Management(DRM), I'm not surprised that Sony's CEO mentioned DRM and the use of DRM on their high def Blu-ray DVD product as reasons for the delay. They won't ship without DRM in the product, but it appears they are having a problem coming up with protection that works; will not cripple the product; and won't cause some huge exploit by hackers. This has caused a delay in the Blu-ray DVD rollout and since that is integral to the PS3, a delay there as well. |

Is it really a "delay"?How can you delay something that never had a release date in the first place? |

Re: Is it really a "delay"?said by i1me2ao:great marketing, more money if sold in November.. Precisely what I was thinking. If the Xbox 360 was any indication of sales potential, I should preorder about 10 of 'em and sell them all on eBay. Would pay for all my other Christmas shopping. |

A couple of things.1. The psp will emulate PS1 games off of a memory stick instead of the cd. Whether this means you'll have to buy them again, who knows. I looked at the slide for it and it mentions an "archive server", so maybe they expect you to d/l a few hundred megs onto your stick. 2. The HDD for the PS3 IS required, but it has NOT been decided if it will be included with the system, probably due to pricing issues. That would be something that would absolutely kill it if they didn't include it. I can see streams of angry mothers storming wal-mart for replacements of "broken" PS3s. 3. Here's a link to some of the slides shown at their announcement: » www.maxconsole.net/?mode ··· sid=6333I doubt I'll be picking one of these up anyway, I'm liking the Revolution a lot more at the moment. |

The sheep will have to wait a little longer. No one with a clue would touch a PS2/3 or Xbox360 crap. It's for the socially challenged. |

Re: Broadband my asssaid by leer:This isn't broadband related. Stupid. Well, since the PS3's online service would likely be broadband only, and the PSP being able to download PS1 games would be unbearable without broadband... How exactly does this not apply to broadband in some way? |

I agree with leer. This article has nothing really to do with broadband. |

The ratio of broadband users that are also gamers are pretty high. Call it guilt by association. |

PS3 is going to have an online-broadband gaming feature...it is BB related... |

Re: ExpectedYou do all realize you're talking about Sony companies that are not related to Sony Computer Entertainment, right? Sony Music does its own thing. Sony Pictures does its own thing. None of these companies have any significant ties to each other. Saying you won't get a PS3 because Sony Music had a fiasco with root kit installation is like saying you won't eat at KFC because Taco Bell gave you food poisoning. |

Idea for a future front page poll..'Are you interested in Video Games and/or Gaming Consoles?' I'd suspect a good 75% say yes..Perhaps less in the past, but consoles are considered a broadband-related item now..Especially with 360's Live and the upcoming offerings from Nintendo and Sony.. Was 'Sega Channel' considered broadband way back when?? Either way, that was a cool little service while it lasted..Still got my adaptor around here someplace I'm sure. |

Re: ExpectedWell, where do you suggest people voice their concerns? They are all connected by the company name, which I find pretty significant. Cutting it off at the head versus the limb seems more effective to me...but then again, a more centralized, focused effort against Sony Music might pack a more powerful punch. In the case of Taco Bell...no, it would make less sense to boycott KFC than it would Yum Foods. |

I'll be surprised...If they can reach their target date of November 2006. Even if they do, all the quivvering Sony fux will snatch it up so quickly, that very few will have it before 2007. |

What does ordering cheap electronics from scam artists have to do with broadband? |

Re: ExpectedThey may not be *directly* related... but since Sony Music and Sony Pictures are each having issues and each of their support & PR depts have botched it. Also given that the executive track for SONY (the holding company) most likely comes from ALL of the sub units, their culture and mind set are bound to be very similar.
Does this mean that Sony Computer Entertainment IS going to have problems? No - but its probably safe enough to extrapolate that IF they do have problems, expect their support & PR reactions to be the same as the other units - botched. |

Re: I'll be surprised...They are projected to pump out 1 million units each month starting in November. That's a higher number compared to Microsoft's 600k sold the first month. I don't think there will too much trouble getting one after Christmas. |
