Re: I can't believe

said by Karl Bode:

I think the writers have been making a serious mistake by getting away from what makes the series interesting: the paranoia over who is/isn't a cylon, and the constant fear of being chased through space by robotic freaks.

By making the Cylons this season a walking Benetton ad, they've managed to take a lot of the tension out of the series. There's also simply fewer space battles...
Actually, as the Galactican diaspora gets further and further away from the 13 colonies (and presumably Cylon space), it makes a great deal of sense that the attacks would taper off. After all, the further away they get, the harder it is, logistically, for the Cylons to keep attacking them.
said by Karl Bode:

They need to go back and watch that "30 minutes" episode from the first season.
Wasn't it "33" (maybe the writers were "old latrobe" fans)?

Re: I can't believe

I think the question is how 'far' can they jump. I mean, if they can jump from anywhere to anywhere, then no, logistically the cylons should still be attacking constantly. But watching the show, it appears the distance they can jump is quite limited. Which would explain the lack of cylons later in the series..

Word is that the 4th season will be the last season, and they DON'T get to earth, the cylons wipe out humanity.. ouch..

Well, they wipe out the second diaspora. Cool whether they wipe out just the 12 colonies or manage to wipe out all of humanity. Gotta love story lines that take the "bummer ending" approach.

Cina Onz Us

One trillion dollars of foreign currency in reserve in Chinese banks.
Every unit of foreign currency that enters the country is converted to yen to keep the value of Chinese goods low.
When and if this reserve is released, we are all f&^%$ed.
God (or whomever if there is a whomever) bless us all.
At least the oil producing countries spend the loot they get.

Why would they convert to Yen (Japan's currency)? Thought the Chinese used the Yuan?

Boston's (The Band) Brad Delp R.I.P

ATKINSON, N.H. -- Brad Delp, the lead singer for the band Boston, was found dead Friday in his home in southern New Hampshire. He was 55.

Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Lt. William Baldwin said in a news release that there was no indication of foul play.

"There was nothing disrupted in the house. He was a fairly healthy person from what we're able to ascertain," Police Chief Philip Consentino told WMUR-TV.

Delp apparently was alone at the time, Baldwin said.

The cause of death remained under investigation. Police said an incident report would not be available until Monday.

Delp sang on Boston's 1976 hits "More than a Feeling" and "Long Time." He also sang on Boston's most recent album, "Corporate America," released in 2002.

He joined the band in the early 1970s after meeting Tom Scholz, an MIT student interested in experimental methods of recording music, according to the group's official Web site. The band enjoyed its greatest success and influence during its first decade.

The band's last appearance was in November 2006 at Boston's Symphony Hall.

On Friday night, the Web site was taken down and replaced with the statement: "We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll."

A call to the Swampscott, Mass., home of Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau was not immediately returned Friday night.

He didn't at least not in that post. He cited a law that Karlmarx, in all his eurorific goodness, thought couldn't pass in Europe; cause the eu is the pinnacle of free society where rights aren't ever trampled or some such untrue nonsense.

Brain dump

said by Karl Bode:

Please click on his blog links! (nudge nudge)

He must see decent enough blog through traffic through his tinyURL logs to squat on the first post....
Wow you want to criticize one of the few posters in the News section who contributes "on-topic" (whether you agree with him or not) as doing so simply to drum up blog traffic?

Interesting..

Emptying my head now..

Why does the BBR news section continually post slanted RIAA "news" when, invariably, these threads simply turn into nonsensical, off-topic, rant 'n flame fests?

There's no question that RIAA is the fav whipping post of the Entitled generation, but seriously, these "news" threads are just a popular place to repeat the same posts seen years ago.. i.e. "fuck RIAA blah blah."

Rant rant rant.

But theses threads are popular, no? Are they just to drum up posting traffic on the News threads?

Re: Fiber internet.

Then they need to become more aggressive in their installation of the fiber. We see all the FIOS commercials in NYC and elsewhere I am sure, it is not available in my area to purchase. It will probably be a long time before it reaches me as it is not available in NYC at all that I know of.

What an idiot to say the cigarettes didn't cause the cancer. If he gets cancer again, I wonder what he'll blame it on because it's impossible that cigarettes would have anything to do with it. My guess is David Lee Roth will get the blame.
