requiring the licensee for the 2155-2180 MHz spectrum to provide using up to 25 percent of its wireless network capacity free, two-way broadband Internet service at engineered data rates of at least 768 kbps downstream. Additional obligations associated with the licensee's free broadband service would include a requirement to provide a network-based filtering mechanism for the free Internet service in order to protect children and families, and a requirement that the network allow for the use of open devices.
The build-out requirements for the licensee, as proposed today, would be to provide signal coverage and offer service to at least 50 percent of the total U.S. within four years and to at least 95 percent of the U.S. population by the end of the 10-year license term.
Interesting rules. But who will bid on it with these restrictions?
Onlt teh FREE interent part has to be porn free. I can see why the FCC would require that to be filtered. I don't see in there where the PYA part wul be required to block porn. besides if people get get their porn for free they wouldn't sign up for pay.

Last week, two executive vice presidents--Jeff Weiner of the network group, and Usama Fayyad of research and computing infrastructure--said they'd be leaving. A third EVP, Qi Lu, in charge of search and monetization, joined the list this week. Two senior vice presidents also are departing, Brad Garlinghouse of communication and communities, and Vish Makhijani of search.
I read elsewhere they have lost over 50 top execs in the last year. When Icahn throws out their CEO, they can start over. But who will want to buy them then?
Or it was until the House passed the FISA bill. Looks like I'm gonna spend part of it looking up the requirements for Canadian citizenship. Oh well.. it will be a nice break from finishing up the rock wall border on the front flower bed, and getting started on the other landscaping issues yet to be addressed. I'm turning out to be quite a stonemason - a talent I never dreamed I had.
Great. So every day from now until the winter solstice I will have less and less time to get things done during the day while I am at home and more and more time to get things done at night while I'm at work.

"Californias governor and Attorney General are asking California Internet service providers to help stop the illegal dissemination of child pornography."
Vs the legal dissemination of child pornography?
Anyway, it's the usual story. Toss out 1 of 2 issues....
1) Terrorism 2) Child Pornography
(or both)
and use them as excuses to take away citizen's liberties.
