RT314 - Poor throughput

L0wBall posted : Lately my connection through my router seems to be going downhill. I have a 768/384 ADSL line, and directly through my DSL modem (Efficient Networks 5351) my computer works fine. I've done nothing to the router out of the box except upgrade the firmware to v3.25 and forward port 21 to my FTP server. I just did a speed test and my upload was rated at twice what it should be, but my download was less than that of a 56k modem.
I was looking at the RWIN articles here under the Tweaks section, and did the test to my default gateway with the 'ping -f -n 10 -l 1472 host_or_IP' and 'ping -f -n 10 -l 1472 host_or_IP' and got average pings of 100 for the first and 40 for the second.
I also tried doing the tweak test, and it would start the download of the file, then say "* Downloading file of size 146000: Failed to download, or server busy: Read timed out."
I have rebooted my computer, router and modem. I had Gearminder running for a while, and it changed the MTU from 1500 to 1452, which didn't change anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
[text was edited by author 2001-06-20 17:57:41]
