Have any of you ever looked at the actual throughtput of your adapter as the data is coming in? What you see from a speed test site, is the site averaging over a short period what it has sent you. The average includes a lot of overhead.
If you have XP look in your task managers "network" tab. If you don't, try going to analogx.com and get his free utility called netstat live.
Unless you are connected back to back to the server you will NEVER get exactly the line rate.
What are you looking for in this test. I did several tests and the graph would spike at about 5% and then drop back down to zero. Is this how much of the network I am using during the test?
