tonydi posted : Al, this exact subject, SBC's lack of "interest" in providing other ISP services like reliable email, has been around for quite some time. Before I switched to DSL in 2001 I came here asking about all the bad reports of slow email delivery from SBC. It seemed like every SBC DSL user I knew personally said it was less than satisfactory. Yet almost nobody here at DSLR had similar views. Shortly after I signed up, people here said things would get a lot better once the Yahoo servers came online. Yeah, it's better, but it still isn't on a level with other ISP's I've used in the past.

Like you, I pull email from another ISP, one who hosts my domain. But also like you, I do have to send through the SBC SMTP servers and at times I'm not satisfied with the results. I'm afraid there's really not much we can do to get this to change. Talking to support, etc, would be totally worthless.

Unless....I have an email address for Bob Casali, who is the President of SBCIS. If we could come up with data over a period of time that shows the SBC servers are sub-standard maybe we could send it to him. But we'd need more than just the two of us and like I said, we'd have to show a pattern or else they'll dismiss it as momentary spikes in traffic caused by who knows which virus/worm.
