Roadrunner is such bs....Well here is another roadrunner complaint i would like to add. I wake up this morning come to find out my ip address has changed yet again. This is like the 20th+ time this year. Now all the east coast servers i used to ping 15ms to in quake 3 are gone. I ping 60+ to them now. This is really getting out of hand. I feel like I'm just getting ripped off. Once you get roadrunner the connection is fine. But as time goes on its like they just decide to take advantage of you. Anyone who lives in Hudson valley N.Y. please tell me you guys are getting the same problem. This is really frustrating. Everytime they change my ip address my ping gets higher and higher. i really dont understand. And if you play online games you know ping is EVERYTHING. Also I see so many roadrunner commercials on t.v. My advice for people looking for cable is to STAY AWAY FROM ROADRUNNER. |

You might try tracing those servers and see if routing is actually your problem. You aren't paying for a static IP, so they make no guarantees of your address, which is why some more expensive providers (such as Speakeasy) offer static IP's as part of gamer's packages. |

What a little whiny brat. I HIGHLY doubt the change of your IP was the cause of your problem. Where is your trace route?
Face it your IP changes, that's all part of a dynamic service. But just because your IP changes doesn't mean they change anything with your route. |

I'm on Road Runner and my IP hasn't changed in a couple years. Just lucky, I guess. I have had connection issues and needed to release/renew and power cycle the modem. IP always comes back the same. |

hah i hear ya, that's usually the way it is for me, as long as ya got a router connected to ur modem as soon as the lease expires it renews it poof almost as good as a static... the only time it ever changes for me is if i manually modify the wan mac address in my router...then reboot the modem and do a dhcp renew, or if rr is doing work on their dhcp servers... |

Okay, IP's only change if: A: The MAC address (usually on the Network Card) changes. B: You release your IP addy for more than 24 hours, thus it becomes free in the IP Pool for someone to pick up. (and someone does so) C: You change the MAC Address on your router (Nah, I've never done that ) so holding an IP addy for a long period of time is normal. usually if it changes its due to a power outage that rolls around at the same time as your IP addy expires |

Or if the ISP redistributes the scope. |

I've had my IP for over a year. The closest I've come to changing it was during a power outage some months back. The power went out for maybe 10-15 minutes, and when it came back, I had a new IP, but couldn't get online. I rebooted the modem and router, and I got my old IP back and the connection worked. |

If you do receive a new IP isn't there only a hand full of bunk Ip's in the pool? Couldn't there be a chane you get a better IP add than you had or no. |
